/beg for sealed arena, I found myself not killing energizing winds in HA much since this event started, and more time playing a ranger in Costume brawl.
(imo the ranger has the strongest template, dervishes need to use mel, and thats a wonderful 2 second d-shot me cast)

Maybe but a derv can either hide behind an obstacle or just use it out of range and charge at you with near perm +33% speed, in which case the ranger needs to go find someone else to pick on. I expect most derv's that make the mistake of using Melandru's near a ranger or mesmer won't do that again (25 energy gone for nothing ftl!) A good example of how many people are going to learn how to play better.
Ranger is indeed probably the most powerful in any 1v1 as long as the enemy doesn't prebuff with a form or spirits and you haven't been crippled yet.

Well certainly no one with a brain is going to take on a mel derv 1v1 in this format, not to smart to pick a fight where the outcome isnt certain, but a non-mel derv (no form up) just explodes really quick.
And if there were spirits up already, and a rt around, then yea ill go pick on someone else and wait for a better oppurtunity.
/activate natrual stride and run away ftw

sin ftw. i love the mobility of the character, porting in killing something and then running off to cap. if you get in danger you just port back and recap a shrine which you just left. its also fun leading enemies half way across the map to disappear while theyre stuck in the middle of nowehre

CB is surprisingly addictive and it's excellent to not be outbuilt!

Though I lost most of my games due to players on my team not loading in, I had fun. Player skill really does shine in this, which makes it even better. For instance, I was playing as a warrior, and went head to head with a Dervish in a capping situation. I won because I timed my shield bash with his predictable Wearying Strikes and stayed alive until the avatar dropped, at which point he was near dead anyways.

I actually enjoyed the monk bar. It wasn't good by any standards, but a team with one monk could work survival miracles.
I like the idea though

the monk is really really hard to play imo. you need to know when to heal, when to interrupt with bane sig/SoJ, when to finish something off with banish and when to just back off altogether.

I enjoyed it. I just wish the elite was more....healing/prot oriented. If it was BLight that might've been hawt.
I learned to pre-prot with Healing breeze

Yesterday, when TA got revamped with HvH map rotations, I managed to sneak a few questions to Andrew Patrick regarding the possible implementation of competitive Costume Brawl.
To any devs or CR reading this thread, I know that costume Brawl was intended to be only a holiday event, but to bury the potential of such a massively competitive PvP system would be a bad decision for so many reasons that have been covered in this thread.
I hope that Andrew Patrick, or any Arenanet representative, could post here, so that any issues or shortfalls to getting this gametype competitively implemented could be discussed and adressed with the aid of the community.
Meanwhile, let's keep the ball rolling, everyone. Tell your alliancemates, your friends- let's show Arenanet just how much people want this gametype to be pushed through!
