Lol when i did an ab earlier there was a noob trapper spamming local saying he would own us 1v1, how he killed 9 of our team before he died ect ect.
I enjoy an ab every so often, but the ' Omg 2v1 no fair!!!11' idiots really ruin it.

While playing my wammo in ab theres nothing i love more than sp sins, they telly in thinking "I'm gonna pwn this n00b!!" just to have their entire combo worht just about nothing thanks to mending touch. Hilarious. You get challenged to 1v1s a lot as melee professions, on my derv, warrior or sin, there's always some jerk Kurzick calling you out. On my derv I once had a ranger use Grenth's Balance on me, and then comment that it took me long to kill him 1v1 (this is after Whirling Defense).

Played earlier today and a Derv was shooting his mouth off about how he could take on three at a time and not die and yadda yadda. Later, I saw him running solo to the res shrine that my side owned, so I beat him there and he stopped out of aggro range. So I just said, "hello there Dervy. what are you, a chicken?" and like the sheep that he is he came running full speed ahead into me. Couldn't dent me b/c of the npc monk, and I took him out after half a minute or so.
It amuses and amazes me how gullible some people are.

try this trick sometimes:
when playing on etnaran keys or grenz frontier, grab the elite ele npc from the elite ele shrine. after your opponents recap it, grab the resurrection orb and drop it on the dead elite ele. voila, you now have the most powerful npc in AB permanently following you. in fact, you can accumulate more than 1 elite npc by repeating the process. i once had 3 elite eles following me around, and i could demolish everything in sight with 3 eles spiking the shit out of everything with air mastery = 20 spells.
and yeah, this is seriously broken

So, you grab elite and leave. then opponent caps it. then you kill all the enemy eles, grab the res orb and up pops another elite ele?

Nah I think when the enemy caps the ele point, the elite ele following you dies, so you can res it with the orb then it'll permanently follow you and not die even if control of the ele point changes.

that is correct. to be exact though, you can still order the ele to follow or stay. it's just no longer tied to the shrine, so you can keep on accumulating them until you outnumber your opponents 2 to 1 (theoretically possible, but i don't think ABs last long enough for it to get to that stage.

Most of these posts are people complaining about those who want to 1v1. In my case, I made sure NOT to 1v1, b/c I knew I would die w/o the monk support.

I've come across this concept quite a bit during my time in AB, and I've ABed my way my way to r6).
Being called out for a 1v1 my some crestfallen warr or sin that my team has just vanquished. And I think I've hit upon something interesting, if not the answer to this AB mystery.
I think PvE is to blame here. The single player element of the game build players up, puts them on pedastools almost worships and celebrates them as heros. IN FACT! All video games do this! So in swaggers Mr Invincisin. fresh out of PvE and being worshiped as a god by NPCs. He's used to charging into hoards of the enemy (tactics forgotten) hacking, slashing, winning fights.
Suddenly! He finds himself in AB without Mehnlo and Talkorah watch his back. Suddenly he isn't a god, he may have saved the world from a cruel overlord but that doesn't matter here.
What I'm basically getting at is... (and I'll use fight club here.)

Fact is in AB you're not the bees knees. You're a cog in a machine. And it's those that learn the nature of the machine that will prevail.
Thoughts?

Personally I think you're over-thinking it. I don't think its a matter of any psychology PvE instills us with... Its nothing more complicated in my opinion than the primordeal, animalistic desire for pride and recognition that all of us have. When Caveman A and Caveman B beat the shit out of Caveman C with their wooden clubs or whatever cavemen use, Caveman C brushed himself off and wanted to prove that he lost unfairly. 10,000 years later, overcompetitive idiots who are slaves to their testosterone can't resist the urge to do the same.
Besides, it seems unlikely to me that the guy who calls you out for a 1v1 in an Alliance Battle is interested enough in the PvE story to read the dialogue or watch the cinematics in the first place.

I play a BA ranger most of the time, and have come across the 1v1'ers several times. One of the most memorable was a blinding surge ele.
I didn't notice at first, but after the second encounter I saw he was following me across the entire map. Of course 1v1 is pointless in AB, but on top of that I had mending touch for the blind. I used distracting shot several times on his b-surge, which pissed him off so he starts trash talking me. He accused me of spamming interrupts, while he spams his b-surge>lightning strike>lightning orb>gale, over and over. Guess I'm supposed to wait until he casts his 3/4 sec b-surge to cast my 1/2 sec interrupt. What the hell?

I wammo chased (again lol) me down (me = rt/a) , i reacted with Spirit Strength, Weapon Of aggression and a nice sin combo, he died while casting heal breeze, and then starting screaming OMG 5 vs 1 (there were no other people here), and then after i stated that he ragequit.
