TA can be a decent indicator of skill on a split, as TA emphasizes individual skill and micro, things that you really need on split.
However, the point is still valid, that there are a lot of things in GvG that you simply don't have to deal with in TA. I still think that Shiz has a point though, and that a really great TA ranger could become a great GvG ranger easily with some practice.

You are wrong it is not easy to get even rank 1 because you have to get in a team first. I am UAX have, 1 1/2 yrs of playing the game, 12 maxed PvE titles, r1 glad, r1 hero (most of my time was spent on my pve characters obviously) but a couple of months ago I started doing RA, then GvG, and actually got in a few groups in HA to get to r1.....but get to r5 or r6 easy???? are you even playing the same game? Buy a new account and go to HA and spam LFG and see how far you get.

Well that's your first mistake counting on others to set up a team for you. Grab a couple of guildies, make a HA group, grab some PUG to make up the 8 and go.

New people don't want to party with guildies.
Could make them look retarded in front of their guild members, better to just Pug to R1 and get the experience first.
Glads is the easiest.
Go to the europe district at about 11-12 oclock PM eastern.
Get awesome teams in RA man, serious.

Seriously. I played RA at that time last night, got 10 wins in RA and then 10 more in TA......with a conjure phantasm war on my team. The fact we were winning says so much about the competition you meet late at night in TA.
Similarly, with a balanced build / some overpowered crap with thumpers, you can farm essentially as many wins as you like...40, 50+, easy....the only limit is how long you can stay awake.
|
Yea, TAing with guildies late at night/early morning is the fastest way to get glads ever. I remember back when I played TA a lot we'd just roll 3 shove sins at weird hours and start farming glads, or I'd run 2 RaO thumpers + divert monk + ZB monk with friends. Noon/early afternoon on weekdays is also pretty good.

I am absolutely convinced that a really good ta ranger will become a great gvg ranger in no time.
Most matches are 8v8 anyway, and in TA its all about interrupting everything 4 people do, just like in gvg. The only thing he has to learn is tactical overview, splitting at the right time, going for the flagger at the right time, etc. If you're ranger isn't a mindless drone (seeing as 90% of the players in gw are, this is quite a high requirement) then he'll have this learnt in no time and will be awesome.
You can very easily learn the skill interrupt and monitor part in ta.

In TA, you rarely, if ever, have to worry about Aegis, Defensive Anthem, Shields Up, Blind Spam, Blurred Vision, or Skill Canceling. Keeping track of all the cooldowns and coordinating interrupts with your mesmer is something no TA ranger will ever do.
But yes, a good "TA Ranger" will be more effective than an inexperienced ranger in a GvG.

You can always run 4 + 4 split teams that are essentially 2 * self contained TA teams, if your movement is good enough you should be able to avoid getting stuck in an 8 v 8 scenario, and have a good chance at wiping out the other guys NPC's well before VoD. That would simplify the transition from TA to 8v8 for GvG. No great help for upping your Balth cap, but the NPC's are 40 points each from memory.

claiming you cant get into groups in HA is pathetic, just join an Iway, Zergway or make some friends and play with them.
But anyway, if your just a pve'er who wants zasihen keys, just buy the keys when you have the faction and then when you have the number of keys you want use them, another good way to get keys is enter the xunlai house comps. Cos tourney points are well worth getting

What I would like to see is the ability to trade in Tournament Tokens for Zaishen Keys. 5 tokens are worth 5k Balth, there is no disputing that, so we should be able to buy keys with them. Sure there might be a lot of Tokens piled up in peoples storage that would make a glut of keys for a short while, but keys are quickly consumable item so the glut wouldn't last long.

because if that surge of tokens went out.
The chance of that rare drop from Zaishen would rise.
I believe A-net has not factored in tokens into the drop rate.

The chance per key used wouldn't change, the number of rare drops per day would increase for sure, but I can't see anything wrong with that. The idea is to flog em to all the PvE'ers and once they are hooked on Zaishen Keys the supplies run out and they have to earn some Balth for themselves. It's a cruel world
