The way I see things currently is, if you are going to go up against the tired motagon which has limited dmg and disruption why not sub in something that will benefit with either more dmg or disruption or movement control?
It's not like that para with 9 in spear using spear of lighting is going to decide a game for you, and if you can sub in something else that mesh with a play style or build more suited to your current players you'd roll them in a more timely fashion, clearly from what I've seen during euro hours is simply a mashing of heads, skill for skill, character for character 9/10...
Currently I've seen little in the way of full blown spikes which ignore blocks, very few hex builds which with one skill you can own a motagon, and very few builds or guilds running heavy movement control style builds, think it's up to guilds to try and counter the meta, the tools are there...

We played against uF on ladder the other day and they ran a cruel spear p/me instead of a partygon, we rolled them in 5 minutes flawlessly.
If you want to fight 8on8 and still be able to split well (both defensively and offensively) you pretty much NEED to run a partygon.
Btw, we run 11 spear on our paragon I'm pretty sure.

Teams didn't lose to Me because of motigon but because of mistakes.
See uF vs Me for details.

So you mean to tell me you cracked a team because they didn't have a motagon or because you actually broke their aegis/ward....

Because suddenly ALL damage dealt will be responsibility for the monks. No shieldsup, no watch yourself (so you go from 80armor targets to 60armor targets).
We raped them so hard that it wasn't even funny (actually it was ). The mat went quite different.

That game was easily the worst match in all of the top 8. Me played like utter shit, barely bothering with trying to crack the base, but it didn't matter because uF's plan was to do nothing all game then lose at VoD. It was even more one sided than the cE / Me game, with Me not playing even half as well.

Anet: Most people don't know how to split well. Do you feel having a split build is helpful?
[Me]: Well, see, we can't split for shit either. But when you're running sineptitude, it's really not that hard. Sins just run around like little idiots while the ineptitude locks on to a warrior and camps him all game. And with three monks and 3 defensive characters, it really hard to die.
Anet: But we nerfed the ineptitude template.
[Me]: Our mesmers don't have energy issues at all. They can still spam clumsiness and ineptitude on recharge pretty much. Thanks for "nerfing" it to make people feel like it's not a threat anymore, so that we can take this by surprise.
Anet: What about the new VoD change?
[Me]: Whatever makes sineptitude better 2 days before the tourney without giving other guilds a chance to practice it is perfect for us. People who thought they had counter strategies ended up getting raped at VoD. It was pretty funny.
Anet: Thanks for the interview.
[Me]: Thanks for changing the rules of the mAT 2 days before so that it heavily favored us since no one knew what to do against sineptitude now.

Pretty epic imo

He is quite a stupid guy but those ideas have the added benefit of destroying teleporting sins so I'm up for that.

umm the problem with that build isnt just the sins.... The fact that they run around like a waterhead putting on a turtleneck is only one issue.

Very nice. You RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up in the high end and now we at the far end of the spectrum have to deal with the consequences.
Has it not been enough we had to deal with all kind of gimics, that we now have to deal with [me] wannabes ?
Next time, please dont let a gimic win monthlys, please
