This would COMPLETELY remove the buildwars aspect for single map (SB/RI, ritspike etc shit in burning and stuff) It would force you to have a multifunctional teambuild, instead of gimmicks with one and only way to work.

I like this idea, it makes sense and it might even work. But then this might cause more grief from the guilds... because they lose the control of the location they spec their builds for...

Well, at the same time, it might also lead to a lot more gambling with builds. If gimmicks and bad maps are the concern, use a double-veto system: Each round can be from one of three maps, and each team vetoes one of them.
Really though, in the time it would take them to do such a thing, we could be getting skill updates that don't blow, something I'd much rather see at this point.

If the maps are picked randomly then they should stop doing it because even a blind monkey could come up with a better map selection than the last 3-4 months.
And about the cata maps, who the heck cares about asymmetrical, the maps are fine for the most part, warriors was the favored map in GW for a very long time for a good reason, it plays well and vod isn't screwed up by some stupid wall blocking all the npcs(solitude/wurms/wtc.) or plays in a way that disregards npcs and DP and is all about ganking (druids).
or a 20 minute vod camp (wurms).
or a map with retarded walls in vod (solitude)
or a map thats just retarded because of the GW mechanics (dead)
Compared to a shit map like corrupted I would rather play warriors, and I think most people agree with me there.

Warriors is probably the best of the cata maps with wizards being the worst imo. The catapult that fires on the defenders never hits anything coming out the base.

This is how WC3 does ladder map selection .. map pool = x maps each player or team can veto (x/2) - y maps, and the match takes place on a random map from the reduced map pool.
I have been calling for GW to implement this for a year and I really really really hope they get their heads right and do it in GW2, because it is by far the most interesting thing about ladder play when you are not playing the same players/teams on the same maps, but even though you are playing the same people the maps are different each time creating a somewhat refreshing game.
I know the AT system supports completly random map selection and I also asked Izzy to do that fora weekend (wont happen), because I think many people just don't realize how 'fun' it is to play on random or pseudo random maps.
Stop crying game balance and asymmetrically and other stupid things, this game is about having fun, and running around 20 minutes chasing sins while being snared with 27 hexes is not fun. Get it in your heads anet, not fun!

Completely agree there, its awful to play against, its so powerful that even the good guilds have started using it to prevent getting farmed in the AT's by bad guilds using sineptitude on pure split maps.
I dont think the problems will be addressed until after the next monthly when 95% of the teams will be running the same build and Izzy might notice something is amiss.

Picking the maps randomly is a pretty stupid idea. It does exactly the opposite, instead of picking 6 good, balanced maps that promotes a variation of builds and doesn't have stupid mechanics like the maps chop chop listed, it pulls up these shit maps like corrupted and wurms that no one wants to play on.
This does shed some light on how stupid izzy truly is though. What I still don't understand is how he got his job, and how come he hasn't been fired already.

Because PvE'rs bring you cash, and while, they might cry after a skillbalance for while (OMK! U nerfd mai farmz bcz of sum pvp scrubs!!!!!!) they always find another build to play and happily use overpowered buttonsmash builds. As in PvP, bad skill balance ruins the game. While bad skill balance to PvE is unexistent. Well, ofcourse you can make every monster have instagib skills and such, but you know what I mean.

So ignorant
I think the pool idea is great. Should make a vote system for single elimination round imo.

Some people have fun this way. Just like some people have fun sitting behind 6 layers of defense for 20 minutes.
But, I do agree that Anet should at least try the WC3 map selection system though.

And I agree with Kaon here, what I am trying to point out is that in a well designed game both participants will have some form of enjoyment otherwise it not a well designed game, by definition.
