Feb 21 update...don't get hopes up
Update - Thursday February 21
Guild Battles
Isle of the Dead: repositioned the outer archers.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug that caused Wrathful Storm creatures in the Realm of Torment to use incorrect art.
Fixed a bug that could cause a gap in the female Mesmer's hair upon character creation.
Fixed a bug with the texture on Cynn's dress.
Are you kidding me? This is what they are doing with their time instead of something that actually affects someone? Hopefully the skill, ViO, VoD update was so big that they had to split the updates into 2 seperate builds and the REAL update is comming later today.

To be fair, updating right before the monthly (again) would've been ridiculous. On a more positie note, the change to those archers is great.

As Farin said, making major changes to GvG/Balance just before an update would be ridiculous.
At the very least moving that archer no longer allows sins to teleport straight into your base on Isle of the Dead. Good change.

All of the decent competitive teams have spent the last two or three weeks practicing sin split and practicing counters to it. To change it just before the AT would put all of that time and practice to waste, and leave them flailing.

So in other words... it IS possible for this game to suck more.

Tbh for any of the guilds that are capable of playing anything else they'd be glad to see the back of it, even if counters have been practiced.

Hmm, if that's your reasoning let's take a look at another hypothetical example. Let's just say signet of ghostly might was brought back 2 weeks before the monthly. All the competitive teams create a counter and start to practice their own version of the build. However, Anet actually does what they are supposed to do for once and releases a game update that changes ghostly might a day before the monthly.
All the scrubs that are hoping to be that one guild that everyone is like "wtf who are they and how did they get top 16," become mad and depressed, but the competitive players are happy, because they don't have to resort to an (overly) broken skill/build in order to do well in the monthly.
JR in case you don't realize what I'm implying, it means you're one of the ones in the scrub category if you really mean what you said.
PS: Just for the record, I don't like it when there are radical changes right before the monthly myself, but in this case sin split is so ridiculously queer I can make an exception.

Imagine how much of a joke that would be, 2 days before the AT and now you can't call targets....

I think you're talking about a different game here. This is guild wars FYI.

ce, sts, rawr, sup, etc would still be able to play a decent balanced, the only ones that would be hit by an update shortly before the tournament are gimmick build players, because finding out and exercising a new gimmick isn't easy within 1-2 days.
I wouldn't mind that...

What the game needs right now is a total overhaul/big balance update. Sinsplit should be nerfed in that one though, although not as only thing.
But what you said is that all these overpowered builds don't matter as "good guilds" will smack others with their "balanced" anyway. As i said, that's another game, certainly not guild wars.
