spiking is hard for new players who dont know how to do it right. however once you get the basic concept of spiking it becomes rather easy.
r-spike, rit spike, obflame spike or whatever other spike you want becomes easy...
as for balanced, it can be more pressure oriented or more spike orriented.
when the op is talking about "pressure instead of balanced" I dont understand if he means pressure like thumperway or pressure from a balanced team which is pressure oriented.
if he's talking about thumperway than yes its 1 of the easiest builds to run and totaly rolls N00B teams.
however if he's talking about balanced pressure than it starts to get complicated. each member if his team needs to have a clue and know what role he's supposed to play and how to play it. which will take a new pvp guild a lot of time to get right.

If you think high armor will save you, I think you are wrong. The best defense is control. If you control you win, that's it.
|
Sigh.
If you all ran 600 armour characters that had 10000 extra armour against meta and you had 1 thousand monks instead of the normal 2. It is less work on the monks.
Do you grasp this point. Yes or no?

It's not hard relative to other options.

Your guildies will be frustrated by their slow progress if they Rspike. Run pressure/gimmicks and they will probably be satisfied by winning the first couple rounds imo.

I had my 6 year old cousin play for me in a spike build. I told him to press 2 and 3 when the guy said spike. They won quite a few matches if I recall.

High armor is nice, but isn't one of the highest priorities.

so basically your saying " Dont bother all you newbies out there. You will suck anyway, might as well give up"
Ever thought that some people acctually play for fun?? And when you play a build the whole team enjoys then the fame and experience will start to increase. To OP take all the proffesions of your guldies and come up with a team build for them. Start playing it tweaking it where necessary. Oh and pressure is way easier than spikes especailly if you dont have a good caller.
GL to you and your guild

lol you should make a balance build for your own guild lol! Neglect of what it is, just try to put skills together that you think it will work. You might fail but who care. Guildies for the win? Playing about 10 times or less, I'm sure you guys will be pro soon! To make balance here isa quick reference:
Compose of 3 part:
1. Front Line: Can be 1, 2 or 3 of these:
- Dervish: Good AoE, constant spike but lack of pressure (Interupt, KD and such.) Tip: The more enchantment on derv, the better.
- Warrior: No AoE dmg but heavy pressure. Might not be compared with Derv's dmg but can interupt, give conditions and more important can kd well.
- Sin: Well dmg, heavy pressure esp on enchant remove/conditions/hex. But die rather fast (armor of sin = armor of monk or even less depend on which insigma you are using.)
2. Midline:
- Ele: Heavy AoE (fire) Heavy defend/snare (earth/Water). Armor is higher than most caster vs elemental. But depend too much on spells which can be interupt/shutdown.
- Mesmer: Lack of dmg but HEAVY really strong pressure/shutdown esp interupting.
- Rit: Can be half heal half weapon support. Tip: Weapon spells can not be removed. Run well with heavy melee/physical allies.
- Para: Strong support / dmg per sec. Can be used to help with both offend and def.
- Nec: Heavy hexer. Run well with hex builds.
- Ranger: Offer some nice range dmg. Condition apply and constant interupt. Can use traps as defend/pressure.
3. Backline:
- Monks: Needless to say lol
- Rit: As said above
- N/Mo-Rt: good supporter due to energy pool.
MAKING BUILD:
1. Heavy Melee: Composed of 3 or more melee
- Need the rit and or smite to support.
- Be ready to bring hex remove/condition remove.
2. Condition pressure: Composed of at least 2 ranger and a taint Nec. The rest can be hexes and heavy melee.
3. Hex pressure: Composed of 2 Nec (1 SS, 1 Taint) the rest can be mesmer (Mirgrain, Panic and such.) and 1-2 melee. Strongly suggest Sin + SF Ele.
4. Heavy dmg pressure: Composed of Eles and a tainter + Derv and such.
5. Spirit pressure: Needless to say, composed of almost all of the spirit in this game.
Tips: Try to stick mainly to the primary atribute skills for the prof. Secondary is good but don't count too much on it. Exception are N/A, N/Rt, Rt/Mo (Smite). A/D (Using Scythe)
Thats a very quick and plain reference I can give you. Good luck!
