Harold Chow's words to the GvG Community...
From gw main, http://www.guildwars.com/competitive...28-univsei.php
"Considering that "Sinsplit" builds have dominated two straight Monthly Championships, what could [ei] or other guilds have used to better prepare for and counter these split-heavy builds? The Shroud of Silence Assassin relies heavily on knockdown for its attack chain, while Balanced Stance at a mere 2 Tactics has the same duration and recharge as Shroud of Silence at 14 Deadly Arts. Certainly [Uni] could not have split as effectively to kill [ei]'s bodyguard without using Shadow Steps, but given the variety of other skills that one can use against an opponent from casting range, the Shadow Steps did not do as much for [Uni] as its teamwork did in coordinating splits to gain a numbers advantage against experienced opponents throughout the entire tournament."
----------------------------
in otherwords there is nothing wrong with sinsplit learn to play better and counter build nubs!

sigh

I think running a better sinsplit is the solution.

Harold J. Chow does not work directly for Anet, and doesn't influence the balance updates any more than any regular member.
Thank god.

I guess Harold Chow knows best, shadow steps are only 1/3 of the problem. There's absolutely no problems when sins with tele's+snares+imba hex, monk with tele, runner with snares, and 2 midliners with fast movement+dmg are all put into a build . Once you've dealt with all that be my guest and score kills anywhere with HB camping mid map and an sod monk, heard it was easy.

To this day, I am a firm believer that Harold J. Chow is a member of Anet, undercover, so they don't know it. It's like, a way for Anet to go RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO YOU without losing their rep.
Or something.

Camping with balance stance would have won the game, Harold Chow you sly fox. What an idiot. I'm sure it was superior teamwork that won Uni and not the build, right.

Did Harold Chow's guild beat uni during the tourney? Just wondering.

I find it funny how he thinks the "Damage" from the instagib combo is the real problem...
I also find it funny how he is suggesting all monks should run /W now and bring BS, seeing how that will obviously prevent the enemy assassins to take out any NPC's...
/End sarcasm
But seriously, does he NOT realize Shroud of Silence and Teleports are the main problem here? (Besides VoI/NPC'S being total sheit)

The damage isn't entirely insigificant -- any sort of non-adrenal chain that compresses a fairly large damage into a very small interval is notable, I think -- but the big problem is the ability to compress that damage onto a platform that has the shroud and shadowsteps. Even if balanced makes it harder to spike a lone monk, it sure doesn't change the fact you have a platform that supersedes any notion of tactical positioning, can pretty much beat any split you can come up with, is going to solo dice your NPCs, and has that ten second no-penalty blackout.

Erm, it is.
At some point the Assassins actually have to kill NPCs for Sinsplit to work. The problem with the Shroud of Silence Sin is that it has the ability to tele-kill an archer in under 6 seconds (no truly viable PvP character should be able to do this in the first place) AND shutdown casters.

If damage is so overpowered, than why didn't we see this kind of play untill few weeks ago? This build was playable since a LONG time, in fact, ever since the release of GWEN, you would have been able to run this build...
VoI/VoD changes and NPC'S are the main problem (duuuuur), however, the "build" problem here is the SoS... One RoF and the target will survive...(They have around 300-400 Dmg +DW)
With the current split tough, it usually comes down to 1v1/2v2/3v3 scrimmages (Or 3v2, whatevah), in which a 10 second shutdown on the main healer(s) (I already saw alot of Dual SoS builds aswell) = whipe...

It's been pretty widely known in the PvP community that Harold Chow is a total joke who knows about as much about PvP as your typical AB geotank (or maybe less). I don't see why so many people are getting worked up, since we all already know he's just a bad player who gets to post on the guildwars.com to appeal to "casual players".
I mean, I just read the first sentence of his bullshit saying "The changes to "Victory or Death" and the introduction of the "Victory Is Ours" mechanic, along with the success that guilds such as Mistral Edge had in last month's championship, have given rise to Assassin split ("Sinsplit") builds" and I already know he's bad. Sinsplit arose because of the changes to VoD and ViO? Those splits have always been at the top. EvIL's AoD? RenO's sinhexes? HAnD/SpNv's sineptitude? Where has he been for the past 2 years? Probably in his rank 5000 PvE guild that watches obs mode once a month?
On a related note, Yue needs to get working and write those match reports instead. At least they'll be decent.

What!! His reference to Shroud of Silence in the match description was [Uni]'s Powers Throws Spear ran back through the tar to collapse on [ei]'s main team, using Shroud of Silence to get a quick kill on [ei]'s Restore Condition Monk, Count Ups, at 1:10. How did you extrapolate that to mean using BS to protect NPC's and not the RC Monk he was referring to in the match description?

Now of course not EVERYONE runs holy veil. But this just means you have too now.

In one single post you've unknowingly shown that the argument "You can counter skill X with skill Y, therefore skill X is not broken" is retarded.
Why should I be forced to bring a skill just so that I won't straight-up lose against another skill? That makes for niche builds and bar-cluttering. Holy Veil is all-around good, but at no point should we be forced to bring a skill just so we won't lose against something. That's a balancing issue.
Any good ASSASSIN (and trust me, the bar is low) will know not to Shroud when Veil is up, and they'll just spike you down anyway.

Yeah sure, if you can catch it without removing Dark Prison, Shadow Prison or Siphon speed accidentally. Sure, you can deal with it. Sure.

even if you do catch the shroud, any prot spells or stances that can actually block an attack will be negated by the A/N with Rigor anyway...

The addition of ViO made sin split a much stronger build/tactic, and thus it became much more mainstream. He wasn't *that* far out with the statement.
