If only shadowstepping could just be removed from the game. It would get rid of most degerate builds right there.
Pretty much everything Shadowstepping touches in PvP turns into something broken and boring to play against.

Getting rid of shadowstepping will not get rid of:
-Turret Rangers
-Escapeway R/Ds
-The HC monk TA complains about
-Most of the 321 spikes in HA (I think ranger spike is the flavor this month)
-Those Toxic Shock deadly sins(the few still out there) don't really need the shadowstep from Augury. maybe the E/A PBAoE do, but its not a big deal.
there are probably a few more.
So to say it stops the most degenerate builds is exaggerating

It's a start... But I think he would be correct if he stated that removing shadowstepping would mean removing the most broken mechanic... If shadowstep gets removed, it would be a nice start to fix HA/GvG...

I didn't say that it would get rid of everything that is broken, but it certainly would get rid of a lot of broken stuff, as well as prevent future problems.

Regarding Healer's Covenant... Strip Enchantment + Wail of Doom usually gives enough of a window for a damage dealer on the team (preferably a hammer warrior) to beat the living snot out of a typical HC monk. Knockdowns in general present the biggest problem to a Covenant Monk once you get around any defensive stance that they may be running. It's actually a bit refreshing to see an almost pure healing bar have some success, but it's not as problematic as people would make it out to be. It just happens to have good synergy with CoP, and I think some of us can remember how good that skill can be.

The problem isn't really how effective it is, it's the effectiveness/skill ratio. The bar takes almost no skill to play and yet is extremely versatile and survivable in a 4v4 environment (especially with some support). Other bars may be significantly better, but the skill required to preprot and effectively manage their heals and self-survival is much much higher as well.

the bar removed protting entirely from arenas, basically healing just became more efficient then protting.
isnt protting one of the best aspects of gw, skillwise?

Ta'ers don't run mesmers plain and simple. If HA is EuroSpike Wars, then TA has become RAW HEALING VS RAW DAMAGE Wars, which inherently you get into problems like HC + Resto/channeling Rit + War + Ranger steam rolling anybody who runs the counter to HC. The fact is while wail of doom helped midline in general, your old blindbot + mesmer is going to get raped in a 4v4 with the current meta.

Personally I'd rather just see it go to 5/1/10 or so, then let the shutdown take care of it.

people don't run shutdown anyway, if they wouldn't be 30+ pages worth of nerf HC threads floating around.

This would be why the pvp pool is so small... too late to fix I suppose.
Recharge change is probably enough.

The PvP pool is small because the button-mashers don't have enough things to faceroll with?
They could try sucking less.

bring a mes and u win, if u don't u are doomed? the mes shouldn't be the only viable counter to HC, not to mention that if the mes is such a problem then he is gonna be camped 24/7. Also they even have CoP so even the mesmer shutdown is not gonna be that effective.

Ok, i understand u never faced healer's covenant. If it is too hard for u to see it, i'll just say u that HC recharges in 5 secs, the bar has a lot covers for it so enchantment removal isn't a viable way to deal with HC monks.
