Dust Trap. Be consistent or the guy on your left will have no idea what you're taking - if you have an early choice between two comparable skills (Dust or Orison) then take the one that's better signalling.
I'm assuming we're drafting TA teams here?

GvG teams, actually.
I'd take Orison.

I would also take Orison, but only to prevent the other player from getting it.

Hate drafting this early?
Then again, I guess it makes sense.

There just wasn't anything great in the pack. Orison isn't amazing, especially since we are probably making a Ranger character, but at least you're denying an opponent a skill that could be crucial for a monk build.

We're drafting GvG teams here, so there isn't a problem with consistency. I assume you'd want a monk, even in a drafted GvG build.
Drafted cards:
Crippling Shot
Orison of Healing
3rd Pack:
Vengeful Weapon
Shelter
Deathly Chill
Jamei's Gaze
Shatter Delusions
Lava Font
Wild Strike
Leaping Mantis Sting
Critical Defenses
Blurred Vision
Divine Spirit
Signet of Devotion
Dual Shot
Aura of Displacement
Power Block
Unyielding Aura

We already have Orison, so I would probably pick Signet of Devotion.

Why not suppliment one painful healing skill with another?
Dual Shot augments any ranger build, especially ranger DPS with pets. We have crippling shot, so I'd take dual shot. I'd look at SoDevotion and Jamei's Gaze if I needed to go the monk route, but I'm not bubbling about any of the monk skills we've seen yet so ranger looks better.

The thing about SoD is that it's monk emanagement, which is always worth taking.

SoD hands down. Skills like dual shot, shelter, and vengeful weapon are worth considering, but not nearly as good.

Did you draft dust trap? Additionally, you really need to draft executioner's or final thrust. You're still passing a bomb.

Executioner's>final thrust, but you're still passing thrust, which hurts.

executioner's. axe skills are much better for spiking, which is really strong in drafts due to the low amounts of fast healing (or healing at all).

Remember that stuff I was saying about signalling? I don't think it's relevant if you're drafting an 8-man team since you need so many characters. With 4 it's relevant since if you're making a ranger the guy on your left probably won't get one (or if they do it'll suck).
Executioners is the best pick, although I hate passing Dust Trap and Final at this point. If in doubt get damage, that's my rule of thumb. It's really hard to win if your team doesn't do any damage.
I'm guessing an interesting meta-tactic in draft is to take ritualist stuff - most people have no idea how they work so you have a good chance of getting late strong picks.

I think you mean spawnofebil's comment about Dust Trap; in that case, he said that it would be his second pick.

Both Final and executionors could leave you high and dry if you don't see any other sword/axe, or worse someone else sees the opposite. Take the dust trap, so at least we have half a healer and half a ranger. Rangers and monks are much more reasonable draft characters IMO.
If I were actually drafting, we'd have a strategy for who was taking what from the outset. If the plan was 1 sword and 1 ax, than you'd take whichever skill is more rare. If the plan was for certain drafters to focus on warrior builds than I'd go ahead and continue with my ranger. Same goes with the monks, if I'm suppose to be drafting the monk I'd take those two crappy heals, but if I was suppose to draft utility or offense I wouldn't take a monk skill worse than top line monk skills.

I was referring to the second pack where dust trap was an obvious pick. Or did you wind up drafing sod?

I take the skill that most people said they would draft. In that case, it would be SoD.
