3/24/08 - Balance a skill a day - Soul Leech
So, Izzy is atm seemingly trying to make small pushes to put Necros into high level GvG, and here's an elite of theirs that is completely god awful. Backfire is better, and uhhhhh I can't remember the last time I saw backfire in a serious non-hex overload match?
Current:
10/2/15
For 10 seconds, whenever target foe casts a Spell, you steal up to 16...67 Health from that foe.
For the record, I'd like to see it become something like this:
5/2/8
For 0...4 seconds, target foe is hexed with Soul Leech. If that foe dies while Hexed with Soul Leech, for 0...8 seconds you gain +2 to all Necromancer attributes. (Attribute: Soul Reaping)
note: it goes 000111222333444444444(ends at 4) in order of 0 SR to 12 SR and beyond.

Prehaps make it an elite version of Mark of Subversion.
5/1/15 (or maybe 10)
For 1....5 seconds, the next time target foe casts a spell that targets an ally of that foe, the spell fails and you steal up to 10...76...92, and target foe lose an Enchantment (prehaps 1...2)
Just a quick idea.

Enchant removal version of Shame.....

Necro's have enough enchant removal rly... If you want him to be anti-enchant, go corrupt or even a rend does the job...
If you want Necro's to be somewhat viable, make them AoE-Life Stealing. (Like Post nr3 said)
The next time target foes casts a spell (Starts, unlike shame doesn't need to finish) you steal up to XX HP from each foe in Area...
Mods can't be toggled, but I'm thinking something along these lines. Hit ALOT of people, but for average dmg...

Also too good.
Leave it as it is; not all skills are supposed to be amazing.

I like the idea of conditional steals, as it is necromancers are plagued with unconditional damage spells. Which always either suck, or are good enough to make a spike around.
Give it an condition thats skillful to make, like shame in your example. And then give it an huge reward. Shames reward is gigantic (hello you just made the monk switch up an energy set now). The problem with blood magic, is that random lifesteals suck. Hard. Making a lifestealing version of shame would be terribad, and never played unless it stole like 300hp
This skill was doomed from the day it was concieved sadly

I don't see how this is overpowered... shame steals a lot of energy, thats way more pressure than a simple life steal... plus, it's elite, shame isn't.
I'm all in favor for some shutdown in the blood line, it'll start to be interesting while not encouraging life steal spike

Its not overpowered, and as the skill is, it will always either be total crap, or completly imbalanced.
Give it a different function if you want it to see play, but as it stands now this skill is balanced, dont break it.
The only thing I can think of that it MIGHT see play in is make it a lifestealing version of channeling. Everytime you cast a spell you steal maybe up to 30HP from nearby foes. Still crap unless the numbers are big enough to spike with.
Again blood magic is doomed, there are no skillful ways to make lifesteal or direct damage balanced, without making them spike skills.

Soul Leech is a hex, so pink triangle goes on, pink triangle goes off. But, whatever.
Soul Leech (E)
10 1 25
Elite Hex Spell. Function changed to: For 6 seconds target foe is hexed with Soul Leech. The next time target foe casts a spell, you steal 0...14...17 Energy.

Hex 1...10 seconds. When ever hexed foe cast a spell casting time is increased by 100% and lose 10e.
Would make it harder to cancel spells after you see the hex on you. You might even burn through 2 spells if you had them qued. Even with that increased casting speed I don't think any one would cast through it. Would also making hex removal spells costly.

For each enchantment on them, target foe and all nearby/adjacent foes have their skills disabled for 0..2..(3?) seconds, if that foe was suffering from a condition, that target takes 0..50 damage.
Don't know what attribute, and preferably a clause so that it can't be used With fast casting...

It's called vampiric spirit. It sucks, too.

It could also just be changed to give energy. Add that it steals 1...3 energy from your target as well, and leave the rest of it as is.
