Make it more of a support line. Things like Order of Pain and Dark Fury come to mind.

A lot of what midline characters do is provide:
a) spike assistance (paragons, eles, mesmers)
b) shutdown (mesmers, rangers)
c) pressure (paragons, rangers)
d) offensive party support- blinds, blurs (eles)
e) defensive party support- prots, heals (HP eles, paragons)
As it is now, most necro templates suck at those things. Making necros better shutdown and defensive party support types is a good way to go, and these changes reflect that.

ravenous gaze at 10e with this suggestion would still be worth it. If blood spike still worked and you'd implement this, I can see 1-2 necro taking it instead of vampiric gaze, having a support skill + damage for spikes, even if it's damage and not life steal.
Working around condition management and support/shutdown is a good idea.
If blood bond had to stay like that, I'd use a 1sec cast on life siphon, with a higher recharge

I would try and rework blood magic into a skirmish line, with curses/sould reaping being flag stand
Buff blood renewal, demonic flesh for self survival, maybe make them usable on other allies. Rework some skill based life steal skills (target foe is interrupted and you steal x health), maybe rework a skill into a speed boost (sacrifice x health and move y% faster for z seconds. Buff mark of subversion, shorten duration. Rework a skill into some kind of snare (if target foe is suffering from a condition, that foe is crippled?/hexed with snare?)

/agree with giving blood magic some more utility and healing for teammates. IMO its really the only way to buff it without creating retarded spike builds in the process. Skills like blood bond are skills that currently suck but have the potential to be decent if buffed.

TBH, you cant really balance blood magic without over doing it. I mean, revenous gaze, it may LOOK bad, but spiking for 100+ life stealing in 1 skilll, well, gg 55 monk =D.
If it was more support, thad be OK, although probably paragon>necro supportwise even if necro blood magic was changed to support.

Generally-speaking, what needs to happen to put Blood in a better position is simply give necros more utility that has health sacrifice as its primary cost, which puts blood in a better position to recover that health while harming the other team.
