Default soul barb spike...

just wondering has anyone else come across this?

one soul barb heavy hex neco - icy veins!
mesmer with hexes / shutdowns - psychic distraction?
ele with water snares / hexes - shatterstone!
general monk?

just played against it - practicing monking

get hit with soul barb and at 17odd damage combined with SS and icy veins etc. quite a powerful spike - dunno if this has been posted before or are there any signs of the spike about to happen? other then soul barbs being cast or the unsuspecting target?

don't know if this is a new or old spike but was wondering on ideas?

ahh i remember facing this in gvg 2 years back.... shit is uninfusable before they nerfed something.... i think it might have been recurring insecurity.

I run SB/Ri sometimes, but then with a ranger. Really easy kills already and good sig control.

soul barbs dmg got reducded alot :P still quite common in icy vein spikes in ha.

If I remember right, the reason people stopped running SB/RI in HA and whatnot is because whenever RI renews, it's ALWAYS the second hex from the top of the stack. People just used Expel and it was gone. Least I think that's why people stopped running it, anyway. That, and the RI nerf.

The nerfs that hurt it the most was the limitation to healing reduction. [skill]Lingering Curse[/skill][skill]Malign Intervention[/skill][skill]Defile Flesh[/skill] would all stack the healing reduction to make even an Infuse heal for squat.
Old and once OP spike/pressure.

oh i see.... i don't remember lingering curse being 25 energy.... no wonder no one ever ran it xD

Its a pretty meh spike, I mean the raw power is amazing but the defense is generally lacking.

Well, the build is pretty much fun to play, although, as Zena said, the defense can be a problem. Our guild MAW designed a new version last weekend to bring it back into play as a counter to the enchantment-heavy healing that's running around everywhere currently, although the build we played differed a bit from what's posted here, so I guess another guild either had the same idea at the same time or decided to modify our build a bit ^^

A good balanced team was always pretty hard to overcome with this build however, but since I'm personally a fan of balanced builds (switched to this one simply because of all the lameway running around currently) I hope people will reconsider their A/D dual-monk-builds and we'll have a more diverse "TA-environment" again...playing against the same builds over and over again was getting boring

I got raped once by a Me/Mo healer, Me/A with Mark of Death and hexes and two necs hexing.

3 lines of hexes=gg dead lolwut nowai.

I dunno why people are always so happy about SB/RI spike. It's another gimmick like smiteway.

But I suppose it's ok since it rolls the gay gimmicks and it gets beaten by balanced.

Yes it's pretty old but it still works.

Shield of absorption stops this spike. Too bad it's hard to fit in on a ta monk bar, but if you have it... GG
