Getting Back into Guild Wars
Hi, I used to play GW a while ago... until my net could no longer support it. However now I am at uni, got good internet lol, so I kinda wanted to play again. I was wondering if it is worth buying all the gw packs(except the original); I heard that you can just get the PVP only skillset online or something... so that seems good lol.
However, I also heard that pvp in gw has been getting less support and it is not as good as it used to be (last time I played was just b4 factions released).
Also, I won't know anyone anymore lol, so be very difficult finding groups etc, and even though I have all skills (pretty much) of original classes unlocked, it will take ages of grinding (especially cus wont know anyone) to get faction to play new classes.
So basically, I was wondering, is GW worth buying all the new skillsets, and is pvp still good? Or should I just wait for Guild Wars 2? (or is that tooo far away? I'm not too sure when it is being released, heard beta test or something later this year)
Thanks

Wow you left just before the golden days ended and now want to come back. Sry to say but I'd reckon not bothering sinking $$$ on a now stale, dead, PvP game. If you do come back it will just put a nasty taste in your mouth.

I think with the way it's set up, you need the games you are buying the PvP skill pack for. So if you want to use Nightfall skills you need Nightfall.
In my opinion, if you only want to do PvP, you're probably better off waiting for GW2 instead of buying all of the campaigns. Play with the Prophecies skills you have already unlocked and see if the gameplay is to your liking before making such an investment.

Do you not play any more? So it went downhill was that because of the new classes not being balanced or useful or something? Or was it a developer preference towards PvE rather than PvP? (and hence ruining pvp balance lol) Hope it is the former, because if the latter, GW2 may be worse? If so... I dunno what to do, Guild Wars was my favourite game I have played, and don't really know any others that can/will recreate the same experience (from my experience with GW prophecies or w/e original is).

Well that seems weird, I thought if you just wanted to PvP and not do the campaign you could just unlock the skillset by paying for that and not have to pay for an unneccesary campaign I am never going to play lol. Man gw would be so cheap if you were just paying for skillset lol.
At least it seems GW2 you don't need faction for pvp only and you get all the skills unlocked from the start lol. Anyone have any info about when GW2 be released?
If too far away I kinda want to play gw1 but... don't really want to spend a whole lot of money if GW2 arrive really fast, or
Is there no forseeable future where Anet could fix the problems which Ec]-[oMaN implied exist (but I don't really know what they are lol)??
TY
I may reinstall gw have a look in, see if anyone on my f list still playing, see peoples general attitudes towards it or smtn....

the PvP will contain all skills and equipments available for your pvp chars.
i only bought platinum edition then the pvp pack and unlocked faction/nightfall skills with bath factions. I actually wish i didn't spend money on platinum edition actually...since i couldn't even be arsed to finish eotn.

You can get a pvp pack for 20 dollars through the NC store and use that to set up a new account. that will let you unlock pvp skills from all campaigns and eotn, and 4 character slots. It only starts you with a handful of skills of your choice, and a few weapon and armor mods, and no pve access, but once you get some faction unlocked the account should serve you just fine.
I know, it's a dead game, or whatever. But it might be worth 20 bucks, at least.
