Mesmers in BYOB
Recently ive joined an all BYOB guild, id still like toplay Mesmer and have been wondering what to run, the last few i ran crip anguish with this bar
[build prof=Mesmer/Assassin][Crippling Anguish][Conjure Phantasm][Conjure Nightmare][Auspicious Incantation][Disrupting Dagger][Cry of Frustration][Distortion][Dash][/build]
also when i say we run byob i mean its usually groups of 2-3 running around causing havok...we're not really trying to climb the ladder, just wanting to have fun
also i know no self heals is not the best idea as we dont usually have monks with us, but distortion/dash is enough to keep me mobile enough to stay out of harms way

It's usually better to bring one monk and still have an selfheal on your bar with a res sig as well. It lets you accomplish more.

You don't need self heals in BYOB if you play smart. Usually there is one Monk, and if you are out of range then just don't engage what you can't kill/get away from.

No. You are wrong. This is BYOB advice. Not "I have no clue what I'm taling about so I'll say stuff about a concept I understand" advice.
On a more serious note:
D-dagger is not going to be useful, or smart. This is because with your bar, your effectiveness potential is best at a long distance. D-dagger requires you to forfeit that disadvantage. You are a mesmer, surely you can think of a better interupt than D-dagger.
Perhaps other illusion skills that might benefit you. Clumsiness?
Or take time to dip into other professions that might help you in a byob situation. A self heal is an added benefit if thats what you are looking for.

Yeah, the half-range limit on disrupting dagger doesn't flow with the rest of the build.

I sort of grasp the concept of BYOB but can someone actually define it?

Works best on frozen where you can run around everywhere causing havock by killing npcs and getting morale boosts.

yeah we use frozen, this build is great for picking off archers when nobodys in the base, or for forcing morale as the rt/a flaggers cant really do anything against 10 degen, especially if they're only active heals are VwK and soothing memories

What? Who would bring VwK and why would they use it while running a flag?

Best Guild in the Game does BYOB a lot. Perhaps you should observe some of there matches to get an idea what works.

They aren't on obs very often, but they are good at what they do. Every match is awesome to watch.
They aren't the Best Guild in the Game for nothing

You don't really need 16 degen in your build.
I would drop phantasm for something else... enchant removal, interrupt, maybe clumsiness.
