not really my favourite spike, have one monk remove barbs and the other WoH/patient/ quick good heal and the spike is countered. Though i do recognise that sometimes it can work but imo isnt THAT good

you dont think they dont use that already? its more dmg then u think. People under-estimate it. Peouple think they can just stop it with a cure and a quick heal. If its that easy, why do i roll teams in less then 2 mins?

There is balanced, spikes and button-bash.
Balanced is concidered the "highest form" of play. Second in comes spikes (The pure spikes, not Adrenaline), concidered "lame" by most people, even tough spikes are most effective in HA. Last and least is the button-bash. No need to explain the feelings about those.
Now, within spikes, you got another 3 categories (Personal opinion).
You got the "hard" spikes, the "balanced" spikes and any-retard-can-run-it spikes.
Hard spikes are the one that require somewhat skill (By either the caller, or the team in general) to pull off. Sometimes because the spike is rather weak, but the utility of the build is worth runnign it. Sometimes because the other HA meta is so overpowered, you simply have to perform perfect play to win.
I can't really think of too many builds in this category, mainly because HA "favors" spikes in general, so you already have an advantage over non-spike builds.
SBRI is the only one that comes to mind. You need to be well coordinated, you need half-decent people, because the spike is very fragile. (Powerfull tough)
Balanced spikes are the biggest part of spikes in general. Powerfull spikes, with room for "fcuk-ups", but not too many. This one, we can also, once again, devide in to multiple categories. But I'll simply stick with putting some builds on top (towards the hard spikes) and other ones on the botton (any-retard-can-run-them)
Discord-, blood-, rit- (Not the previous ones, current one), most 1 skill-kill spikes. These are the more "balanced" out builds, mainly due to the fact either the spike is rather weak (bloodspike) or you're relying on something (not) to happen (Ritspike, no spirits = /resign).
Then U have the more "overpowered" spikes (But still not to the extend of the next category). These builds often have a sheitton of defence aswell as an nice spike. A/D-spikes, rspikes, legoway, Hammer/Aftershock (with the E/A)spike. These are the builds I would put in the "To nerf" list.
And then as a final, you have the retarded spikes. So overpowered/easy ANY retard, and I mean it, ANY retard could run it. These spikes often are button-bash, but then simply spiked.
Searing flames, Shockwave, Original Ritspike, Angorodons/Dark Pact spike AND your paraspike.
The nature of these builds is simple: Abuse 1 insane overpowered skill/mechanic, put 5-8 of them in a build with some monks, and you got yourself a spike button-bash.
Searing flames is nothing but tabbing the skill on recharge. More often than not, they are not even spiking, but merely T-1'ing (With 1 being Searing Flames) on recharge.
Paraspike is T-Spaceway. Mainly due to the fact that paragons are still overpowered as hell, have insane spear damage, and all have a 100+ damage skill (Spear of Lightening) AND a deep wound one (Vicious).
Paraspike is about as easy to pull off as sway. Go in, call a target, say 3-2-1 in vent and watch everyone roll their head over the keyboard. Repeat. Win.
So you want to know how people feel about a build that requires about as much skill to run as sway, and actually is overpowered aswell?
Yeah, we don't like it. Spiking is a beautifull concept. Nearly NO other games know the "spike" concept as we do in Guild Wars. 8 People on vent, ALL across the world using the same (or rainbowspike) skill on exactly the same moment, to get clean kills. Beautifull, it's downright effing art...
Paraspike (and the other sheitspikes, such as searing flames) shit on that concept. They shit on it, pick it up, whipe their ass with it and then throw it in a river of shit.

Paraspike is possibly the easiet spike to run in the game, it's even easier then bspike, rit spike, sf or rspike because of how much armor and buffs paragons have.
Not something I would brag about

tl;dr
you seem to be talking from an HA perspective, and it feels like you have some bias against ppl who play "overpowered" builds. if a build is overpowered and your goal is to win why not use it?
but disredard that, because i didnt read any of your post

I myself play overpowered builds... There is, however, overpowered builds, and retardidly broken builds...
Rspike currently is broken to the retarded extend. (149 Damage +5 vamp Sloth's on a Ghostly? Kthxbai)
Ritspike and bloodspike are simply overpowered... You CAN beat ritspike and bloodspike easily, due to the fact that ALL spikers are in fact defense in one way or the other. If the ritspike is spiking, you got a free 2-3 seconds to get a spike off yourself.

Spend a few mins getting the timing down, and it's really easy. Being a pro paraspiker doesn't really mean much at all.

Paraspike is like most one-dimensional gimmicks (Sway, Iway, etc). Played well it can reliably farm scrubs, other gimmicks, and even average balanced teams.
However against a competent squad you have no chance. Once the mesmer makes mincemeat out of your Barbs/Rigor/EnchantRips .. the midline defense (DA, Aegis, WoW, Blind, etc) will take enough pressure that the backline will hardly feel stressed. And your thinly supported backline will fall soon enough...
