not the best for PvP? There is no such thing as the best. They have incredible support abilities along with spears dps makes them a very versatile class. With unremovable party wide buffs they are able to buff the power of players or heal or many other things. As for builds if you can't think of one there are plenty of pre-made builds on PvX.

Sporadic fighting causing Aggressive Refrain to expire combined with the inability to use Leadership to its full potential are major hindrances to playing a Paragon in AB. There's really only one excuse for bringing one: Helping a cap team stay mobile with [skill]"Fall Back!"[/skill].

Paragons arent too good in AB unless you're going in with guildies/friends
as for other forms of PvP, Paragons can be godly, put in the right hands!
basically your typical PvP Paragon would be a spike+support char.
you have a lot of choices here.
most common secondaries are:
P/W for Tactics shouts
P/Mes for interrupts/enchantment removal
P/N for mass enchantment removal(not as popular as the other 2)
P/any with pure Paragon skills, you dont really need a secondary...
for elite choices you have:
[skill]cruel spear[/skill] for more spike orientation
[skill]stunning strike[/skill] for more condition pressure orientation
[skill]song of restoration[/skill] for more support healing orientation
[skill]crippling anthem[/skill] or [skill]charge[/skill] for more mobility orientation
[skill]defensive anthem[/skill] for more defensive orientation
[skill]expel hexes[/skill] for more utility orientation

I dont see paragons being very useful in anything but HA/GvG right now because they dont get much out of there leadership when getting a maximum of +4 en back..but thats just me

Well they have a non elite charge...but that's about it, and it's not like noone bring an IMS... they can deal some nice damage tho, but in that case I prefer a spear chucker ranger to a paragon.

In AB, you're basically tied to Command because of [skill]fall back[/skill], which is too good to leave at home. Following this [skill]go for the eyes[/skill] becomes your default e-management skill...
It's not like Para's don't work in AB: the problem is all the effective builds look horrificly alike.

Here are some paragon AB templates that I have had success with. As a Kurzick though, I wouldn't run these builds on Etnaran or Kaanai. Paragons aren't exactly speed cappers.
[build prof=P/? spe=12+1+1 comma=8+1 lea=10+1][Barbed Spear][Maiming Spear][Merciless Spear][Aggressive Refrain][Anthem of Weariness][Stunning Strike]["Fall Back!"][Leader's Comfort][/build]
Has a snare, conditions, deep wound, interrupts (dazed), a speed boost and a (terrible) self heal. Has pretty much everything you could want in an AB template.
[build prof=P/D spe=12+1+1 lea=9+1 win=9][Barbed Spear][Maiming Spear][Merciless Spear][Aggressive Refrain][Anthem of Flame][Stunning Strike][Harrier's Haste][Natural Healing][/build]
I only posted this variant because Leader's Comfort is pretty meh. Unfortunately, you lose out on a 16AR shield and the greatness of "Fall Back!" in AB . Still get a speed boost and more damage with Harrier's Haste.
[build prof=P/N cur=6 spe=11+1+1 comma=8+1 lea=10+1][Plague Signet][Wearying Spear][Chest Thumper][Aggressive Refrain][Anthem of Flame][Disrupting Throw]["Fall Back!"][Leader's Comfort][/build]
[build prof=P/N cur=6 spe=11+1+1 comma=8+1 lea=10+1][Barbed Spear][Maiming Spear][Chest Thumper][Aggressive Refrain][Anthem of Weariness][Plague Signet]["Fall Back!"][Leader's Comfort][/build]
These two take advantage of the cracked armor from Aggressive Refrain to fuel on demand deep wound with Chest Thumper. You're also immune to blind and you'll be laughing pretty hard when you transfer the conditions from a crip shot or an assassin's falling spider, twisting fangs combo back to the dealer or to someone else.
The differences in the builds are basically an interrupt (disrupting throw) vs. a snare (maiming spear)
!!!Remember to put at least 5/6 into Curses or Plague Signet will fail 50% of the time!!!
