incompetent pug or bad build?
I like to modify builds based on what I think would work best. Currently I've seen a lot of SF spikes and triple necros. So I put this team together but it failed horribly against 2 SF spikes we went against (first one randomway SF spike). I'm wondering if I just grouped up with incompetent players or is there something wrong with this build. The base of it is from the 2 derv meta obviously but I modified it like this.
[Reaper's Sweep][Chilling Victory][Mystic Sweep][Signet of Mystic Speed][Heart of fury][Attacker's Insight][Conjure Frost][Resurrection Signet]
[Wounding Strike][Chilling Victory][Mystic Sweep][Signet of Mystic Speed][Heart of fury][Attacker's Insight][Conjure Lightning][Resurrection Signet]
[Power Block][Mirror of disenchantment][Cry of frustration][power drain][rend enchantments][shame][diversion][Resurrection Signet]
[magebane shot][distracting shot][sloth hunter's shot][natural stride][Make Haste][Song of concentration][apply poison][Resurrection Signet]
[savannah heat][searing heat][Teinai's Heat][rodgort's invocation][glyph of lesser energy][fire attunement][weapon of warding][death pact signet]
[ShatterStone][ice spikes][blurred vision][glyph of lesser energy][ward against foes][grasping earth][water attunement][Resurrection Signet]
RC
Infuse
Some explanation:
Power block because we already have unblockable interrupt
Reaper's sweep because during spike 2 deepwound is redundant.
In my opinion this should own against sf because of mirror and interrupts and most other builds. I can see it might have a bit of problem against r spike but who doesn't.
Our ranger couldn't interrupt anything it seems and our snare had never snared before and our wounding derv spiked 3 secs early.
I know no one uses rangers in HA except when they have a scythe or r spike. Someone suggested to just use 2 migraine mesmers because anyone can run those but I chose ranger because it's not a soft target.

Well if you played depravity-way i could see you guys getting destroyed... but SF spike your PB mesmer should always be interuping 1 of the casting eles, and another interupt should come from the ranger so you SHOULD of been able to catch the spikes and move on... By the way you where using vent correct?

Your first mistake was bringing dervishes. They suck.
Your ranger doesn't seem to have any utility. He's just damage and stoppable interrupts.
Maybe it was bad players.

Well .. the build is ok. However it will require highly skilled players. Your backline has very little help - no off monk hex removal, condition removal, party healing, etc - and you don't have alot of pressure either. You have a fairly strong spike with alot of shutdown. That means that:
1. You need a very good mesmer and ranger ... that can properly prioritize shutdown targets and multitask well to take pressure off of your monks.
2. You need very good monks
It doesn't sound to me like you had the type of top players required. Personally I would only run this with people I know to be good .. I wouldn't even run it as a r10+ pug. When you run PuGs with complete strangers you need to run something a monkey can play (ie Depravity-way).
BTW .. Reapers Sweep sucks - its way too slow to be so conditional. Go with 2x Wounding strike or a Warrior.

Build looks fine to me, DoM was running something similar last time I played.
I'm pretty sure they ran a ES war instead of reaper sweep and a standard shock axe (this melee combo looks MUCH better than yours) and a rit instead of the water most probably. Build has everything; massive shutdowns, good pressure and spike capability, snares and run buffs (bad thing having make haste on the natural stride guy though but it's just a detail).I would never run that build with a pug though, as it requires more individual skill and team coordination than ANY pug would offer. If you have a good team with ppl that know eachother and most importantly know what to do without being told (and actually do it) I don't see why you shouldn't beat any other team.
