Simple Build
hey
I am an officer of my guild and we were thinking about getting started in GvG.
We have all read some guides and observed some matches, and i was wondering if any of you could send me a link to a build that is simple and would be good to practice coordination and the mechanics of a GvG match. Thanks for any ideas.

Balanced im sure:
W/ - Shockaxe
W/ - Shockaxe ~~> Hammer (if you're frontline can coordinate well)
R/ - Cripshot ~~> Magebane (if your ranger is good at interrupting)
Me/ - Esurge ~~> Pblock (if your Mesmer is good at interrupting)
E/ - Icy Shackles or Shatterstone
Rt/ - Basic Rt runner
Mo/ - WoH
Mo/ - RC
Pretty basic there, if you've got experienced people you can switch it up to the build after the squiggly arrow.
*As for specific builds im sure they're on PvX somwhere.

My advice is, having recently just started GvG playing ranger, don't run a ranger because they will be scratching their nose at VoD and unless they are experienced, won't be able to solo gank many npc's before VoD. Run a defensive para or a curses nec with FF to backup your RC monk and help slow down the wounding spikes you'll be playing frequently.

An aspiring ranger has to start somewhere. There'd be no good rangers in the game if they all got dropped for paragon's when they were first starting out.

I know, I'm just saying until their guild learns the maps and gets a sense of when to split, maybe it's not a good idea to run a ranger. Losing a lot is a good way to get your guild disinterested in GvG.

Or 2 dervs and 3 signet mesmers, works about as well.
Or 2 dervs, 2 signet mesmers and a smiter.

Balanced, you'd probably learn more playing this type of build, add a ranger in for the para if you want. Feel free to run another shock axe for the second warrior if you want, sub out complicate, gaze for other stuff depending upon what your facing at your rank.
[build prof=Warrior/Elementalist][Frenzy][Shock][Eviscerate][Executioner's Strike][Distracting Strike][Bull's Strike][Rush][Resurrection Signet][/build]
[build prof=Warrior/Ritualist][Flail][Magehunter's Smash][Crushing Blow][Hammer Bash][Bull's Strike][Rush][Enraging Charge][Resurrection Signet][/build]
[build prof=Paragon/Mesmer][Cruel Spear][Vicious Attack]["Go for the Eyes!"][Cry of Frustration]["Brace Yourself!"][Anthem of Flame][Aggressive Refrain][Resurrection Signet][/build]
[build prof=Mesmer/Ritualist][Power Block][Diversion][Shame][Shatter Enchantment][Complicate][Power Drain][Inspired Enchantment][Death Pact Signet][/build]
[build prof=Elementalist/Necromancer][Icy Shackles][Blurred Vision][Shard Storm][Frozen Burst][Gaze of Contempt][Enfeebling Blood][Water Attunement][Resurrection Signet][/build]

2 derv 1 signet mesmer 1 pblock 1 cripshot/magebane is probably the most common now, but takes 100x more skill to run. Still much easier than standard "balanced" though.

No reason not to run Power Block instead of ESurge with all of the Aegis chains brought to counter dervsmite.
If your mesmer cant interrupt Water Attune or Aegis when they aren't triggered by HCT he shouldn't be playing mesmer anyways.

Pblock is more versatile and in its effect more powerful,
Magebane allows for more shutdown, which is better than crip as pindown will do the job (though block the can be annoying, crishot is really unnecessary with the common water ele meta), it also allows to take down aegis through guardian or other blocks if your mesmer is split or if you dont have one.
