True Balance?
Hmmm...
I'll prepare for a possible flame-fest...but consider this as a refreshing change if you will:
Sealed deck play.
You go into HA..NO gimmick builds, just pre set skill bars chosen hourly for each proffession going in.
If your in HA...you will be well versed in the different proffessions, and what the potential of each really is.
NO GIMMICKS.
Balanced teams.
*sigh*
Wouldn't that be nice?
Leave all the gimmicks in RA, where they belong?
Just my opinion...flame away...

Sealed Deck is not a new idea, its been asked for every since Factions came out, mostly for GvG i must say. But nonetheless Sealed Deck would be awesome, and i might actually start to care about HA :P

this idea could be nice as an optional district in all PvP arenas perhaps.
if you want to play it like that go to that specific district, if not stick with any other distrcit which offers regular play.
also for this idea to really work you need to offer various builds for every profession.
like, for Warrior:
Shock Axe
Conjure Crip Slash
Magehaunter's
perhaps 1-2 more builds

The only problem is balancing these bars against each other, so that one isn't truly dominant. Otherwise you'll end up with many multiples of the same class over and over.
If you mean randomized skill bars per profession chosen every hour, that just exacerbates the problem. Find the most powerful two or three profs that hour and go.
I'd like to see sealed implemented, but this idea needs more cooking.

Some sort of sealed decck is an awesome idea. Has to change over time of course .. but every hour? How about every day or every week?

I agree!
But I really don't want this moved to *gag* Sardelac.
ANY ideas as to get this ball rolling is appreciated, and if we can snag a Dev or two to consider this.....

The idea isn't bad itself.
But myself I do not like that. First of all PvP is also making build. Like the gimmick or no. I wouldn't like to face all the same kind of build all the time. Even if they change every day or so. I like to makup new build with my guild and try them in HA to see how it goes.
And anyway, I'd be ready to bet my shoes that after a week people will start complaining at imbalence of somebuild or what not. Just moving the problem.
And about problem, people just hate all the builds, that's the real problem. Too much spike? The build is gay, too much this, the build is gay. I can count on one hand the builds that arent hated by people running in HA. So if you'd like to solve the problem, cure the community.
And I'm not saying some skills doens't deserve balance, because there is.

It'd be a good idea, but Anet would be the one making the builds, and they're not very good at that
/signed is implemented properly
also: prolly should be in sardelac

Personally I think that GvG would be a better setting too but yeah this would be fun in HA too.

Maybe instead of changing HA, implement a whole new Arena for 6v6, cos no matter what Anet wont change HA at all, too many PvE players farming there.
a Sealed Deck 6v6 Arena

I second this idea. For example monks could really use both HB and RC. You'd need at least 2-3 sub-options on each profession IMO - unless you're a ranger then all you get is Dshot

You might as well just make it so that every class gets the same HP, same armor, same energy regen, and same skills.
There... there's your balance.
The point of pvp isn't pure balance. It's coming in bringing what you think you'll need to counter your opponents and win. It's about your ability to make a build that works for you.
Gimmick? Any team that isn't 3 wars, 2 monks, 1 mes, 2 eles seems to be called a gimmick in GW.
All GvG and halls is, is "balanced teams" crying about team builds that aren't "balanced teams".
It's like saying, "We can't win this game the way we want to win it, and the way we think people should win it, so we're going to ask that these things be changed so that we can win it our way."

I don't fully get the idea, but my best gues would be this:
You pretty much go in blindly, and let the game decide bar + profession for you?
Seems pretty crappy, because it's only a matter of time before a team gets Dual Foes + nice holding + Nice running power.
Then they can hold for hours, because they got most "lucky".
I have a better idea:
Nerf some skills, so we actual have some balanced:
Atm:
Rspike > ALL
SF > ALL but rspike
Shitbalanced (The spike people often mistaken for balanced, such as with E/A) > ALL but rspike and SF
Etc...
No point in introducing something new, when the solution is rather obvious. All we need is a skill balancer who:
-> Updates bi-weekly
-> Actually KNOWS what he is doing
-> Doesn't prefer button bash over balanced play.

I would love it as a weekend event but not forever. I don't like the idea of never being able to make up a team build and trying it or having to run preselected bars that give you no freedom at all. And builds changing every few hours is a bit much. No consistency in HA at all, which I guess could be good and bad.

I meant the playstyles, mostly the ability to split so gimmicks are harder to hold. And I also didn't mean replace GvG... I don't think that replacing either HA or GvG with this would be a good idea, but instead creating a whole new area. Sorry for not being clear enough.

One really good skill balance per month would do it.
