It's kind of ironic that they are synching to get a title that their own actions are making meaningless.

RA will never be serious PvP. This is concerning GvG and maybe HA, TA, and HB. (everyone has different opinions on those last 3, but I think almost everyone agrees GvG represents the state of PvP in Guild Wars.)

Dude, I live in RA, but even I won't say syncers are much of a problem in the larger picture. GvG is generally what the pvp in this game is. The problem is, the barrier for GvG is pretty brutal. Syncers are annoying if you're an RAer, and if there is a good solution to it, it should be pursued. However, the serious pvp, which all the tournaments and leagues (all 2 of them) in this game are based around, is GvG.

However, RA does have a sort of indirect tie to GvG. It is supposed to be the entry level PvP. The problem is, even without syncers, it doesn't really do much to get people into GvG. It's possible to learn and perfect some finesse in things like quartering, weapon swaps, and interrupts, but it really does almost nothing to prepare anyone for GvG, nor does it provide a window into GvG. How often have you ever wanted to recruit someone you've played with in RA?

Obviously, this just goes back to the earlier proposed PUG island. It should perform a function similar to a public server for a FPS does. GvGing on PUG island would teach one relevant stuff, pretty much regardless of whether he joined an organized group and ran part of the build the leader wanted to run, or even if he ran BYOB and took his pve farming build. People would learn maps, about morale and how VoD works, and probably most the common GvG meta builds, as well as just about any of the other aspects of GvG and that finesse they were getting in RA. Just like, if a FPS's leagues and tournies are based around CTF, people can play in public CTF servers to learn the ins and outs of the maps, where the guns are, how to use them, and eventually might just be good enough to be picked up by a competive clan at some level.

But still, as amazing as the idea does seem to me, I really can't imagine it actually happening. And I know this does seem a bit disconnected from the OP, but like mentioned before, I think easy PUG GvGing would breathe new life into the GvG scene. Get some more people into GvG, maybe see some new guilds form up, or fill out, and a lot of this stagnation in builds and play style will likely lessen. Part of the problem is the GvG scene is pretty small. The more people you get playing, the more likely you'll get some different play styles emerging.
