This will make farming the first few maps useless. And it makes sense : you gain "fame" by having your name spammed across the game, holding the altar of the gods, not by beating up heroway in the underworld.

And fame should be reset to 0, since we do want HA scrubs to commit seppuku.

Newcomers are not very likely to win halls. And with a lot of peaple playing. it would be even harder to win halls, or even get there at all. New players will get bored of sticking hours and hours into something but not getting 1 pts for their title.
Also there has to be some way to see how exp/skilled someone is. And with this it would be hard to get titles. Basicly you cant mesure how good/exp someone is. Altho HA ranks dont mean shit.

How is more people playing HA an issue? It's pretty dead now compared to what it was once, you know. And people getting bored is only because everyone is stuck on the concept that you have a title to grind, one way or the other, rather than a reward for doing well.
Back in the days, what people really aspired to was winning the HoH and getting sigils (like 100k/ea at the time).

Problem is that sigils have dropped in price by A LOT, and the other drops from HoH are relatively shit besides selling for gold (gogo zkey merching).

Good point, that's why I wonder why people still play Heroes' Ascent.

Maybe make two ways to get Fame? Maybe a Random Arena version of of HA+the current one now (there people out there who still love it the way it is). The idea to get fame when only winning Halls is bad. Another idea, would be to make an HA skill set. Meaning, there are PvE skills, PvP skills, and HA (HA =/= PvP, HA=How long SWAY can last) skills. Lol kinda bad too, but still....

My guess is that GW2 will have MORE emotes ... given how popular they are ... look how many people are doing the Zaishen emote ... they're cool. A GvG emote in GW2 would be great!
Oh, and regarding the maps ... you have to think Anet learned alot of lessons with the current maps....

You dont need an emote tied to your title for the title to be impressive. The Champion title impresses me regardless of whether or not there is an emote tied to it. Similarly I am far less impressed with HA emotes since I know far too many have farmed it with builds that do not require much in the way of skill to run against opponents who were even less skilled than they.
Final note....all titles are esentially meaningless. At this point very few of them represent anything other than a willingness to grind incessently for hours on end.

Rank is not a problem, it's more of a symptom of a larger problem, which is that HA is basically a PvP mosh pit, one which has no qualms matching newbies against the best players in the game. The solution is not to eliminate rank next time around, the solution is to ladder it.

HA and gvg titles can be grinded very easily. E/A shockwave spike at the double champ weekend made my noob c1 friend c4. Also dont forget about bspike guilds and even SuX was playing heroway within champ range for some time.
But yeah.. now after so many double fame weekends its very common to see r10 swayers and other garbage.

I could see a system where fame was tied to wins(/losses?), but to earn an emote you had to win halls. It would take away some of the grind factor, and make having an emote a lot more impressive.

Yes the actual HA is broken and the symptoms are being expressed by QQers... IMO, we should stop worrying about the actual form of mid-high PvP (like I call it, GvG being the high and the low being ra/ta/ab (not pvp imo but wtv)/ and to a certainm extand HB), and focus on how to make the one in GWII viable.

I thought it was nice when there were emotes but not titles. It forced some of the better players to play with less experienced people. Rank 3+, Rank 6+ and eventually Rank 9+. People with 900+ fame still had the first emote and were limited to being in Bambi groups with people like me who had just over 180 fame.
Now you see R6, R7, and R8 groups. The difference between these ranks is greater than the difference between R5's playing with R3's, but before displayable titles you often had some really great people in your group who won't even consider playing with you now. However I know this goes both ways. All those R8's are glad to not have noobs like me in their group...
I would like to see something like HA in GW2, but if it's gone I won't be too upset; I prefer GvG over HA. If GW2 does have something with an emote, I think it would be fun to have the difference in rank be very great so people help each other out more. The more experienced player is stuck in your group and needs to win in order to get the rank required to play in better groups. He won't rage on you because he has to help teach you to become better so you can help him win. This wasn't always the case, but I saw it a lot in the past and I don't see it much now.

and there's also newcomers to GvG that dont get a champ point until they extensively do research and experience the gameplay. I think that giving consec fame per HoH victory would be a pretty smart idea besides the obvious gank problem.
Also emotes are a pretty stupid thing to keep around. It IS NOT the only reason people play halls, however it IS the only reason people use builds like sway/iway/spikes etc to grind fame. There is still a chance that people would grind fame just for a title .. but not near as much.
Pugging dissallowes a form of a ladder system into HA sooo theres no way to punish that. However they could either make a harder challenge to earn a point of fame and thus drop the fame count per title, OORR they could make a system in which consecutive wins gain fame and losses lose fame.
I don't know though ... I dont see HA being a good development in GWII

Prediction: at each /rank emote breakpoint, there will be a carryover title for GW2. So when you got to the HA-proxy in GW2, it'll be lulz when the first thing you see is "BLOODSPIKE GROUP FORMING NEED 3 NECROS ANCIENT HERO OR BUST."
