Default HoH 3 teams cap point tactics.

Allot of people say you are ganking them if you make a split tactic. Is this really ganking?

If you face 2 teams both with 2 nukers spamming the altar, a mesmer annoying your healer, some dervishes spamming skills with there scythes and then there are also spikes. If your position is not perfect and your monks are not very very good or pro then most likely your team just dies.

So what do you do? You are team leader you see your team dieing every time you go on the altar even though some area damage is shutdowned. Time is running out...you get behind in points, but you can still win if you split. So you split.

But you don't want to be called a ganker and get flamed all the time, so what do you? You make 2 teams go for both teams bases and you let some behind for middle or home base. Isn't this a nice solution for that situation?

A team sees a split going to their base and they are all like: omg lol wow what you do, gankers noob etc. (Even though you go for both bases)

So that is my story I wanted to tell, now I would like to ask a question:
- Do you think this is a bad tactic?
- What would you do?
- Any cap points tactics you want to share? (except for omg l2p just don't die)

Why always dual split? Go for the High man. Its usually the best tactic to keep the teams close together and prevent a gank.

Because both teams are close together with points and own team is 3-4 points behind.

If you go for one base you get more difference in points because the other team gets the middle and home.

And this happens when there are like 2 minutes left, so not allot of time left.

I think splitting in more than 2 groups doesn't make much sense. Not enough players to be able to cap a shrine you don't have. If you get to the point when there are 2 mins left and the only solution would be to cap all bases then you've lost already. I think you can't efficiently cap more than 1 shrine while holding one. And noone will call you ganker if you try to cap leading team's base.

Hmmmm... ok so heres what I think you should do, taking into consideration that you don't want people to hate you so you dont gank then you should just resign out.

If you don't give a shit just full team gank. The team with the crappiest players, crappiest brainless builds, in favor of your friend if he/she is also in halls, or whoever you feel is the shittiest.

If you wanted to win, I would also send a snare with the team that your sending to gank the winning teams shrine to put foes on steaps, grasping people trying to counter cap) . Be sure to keep most of the damage together so that if points are tied you still have a chance to win by spiking at the last second and winning by getting the last kill.

Cap Points is a retarded mechanic that doesn't promote active splitting. I have made more than enough post explaining WHY you shouldn't split, WHY you should always send your INTIRE team back when the enemy sends 2+ people to yours and WHY Cap Points is about as far from "skilled"-pvp as it can get...

Ganking, in HoH terms, doesn't mean going for someone's base. In HoH terms it means giving up your own winning chance, to make sure an other team loses.

In theory, as long as YOU still have a chance of winning, you can't technacly gank someone, as you're simply trying to take his base for extra "winning"-points.

When a team is 10+ Points behind on Cap Points, and they decide to keep going for bases, every time they do so is a straight out Gank, as they simply cant' win anymore.

In KoTH, there is always a gank. EVERY game, a team gets either unintentionally, or intentionally ganked...

My Cap points experience teaches that the least active team wins. Never let anyone go for your base and play for the altar. If you find yourself running to the other teams' bases then you can already /resign.
Ye, cap points is flawed and everyone hates it.
Cap points is a mechanic that only works in very big and open maps such as AB and HB maps, not those HA jail cells. Also, cap points is a mechanic that doesn't suit a 3 team match.

Not that it matters much really. People are endlessly crying to fix hoh but no-one up there cares. yeah im ranting and QQing.

Havent been on these forums for a month or so. (Age of conan is something else, love the world FFA pvp)

Cap points works different for two starting situations

Holding (team in the lead)
Taking (wishing you were the team in the lead)

Holding
-----
Expect someone to go to your base, depending on the situation, sometimes its best to just trade bases. If they send thier whole team to your base however, go to the third team. The idea behind going for the third team (thats not sending all 8 ppl to your base) is to keep the scores of all 3 teams close together.

If they send a split to your base, attempt a base trade, worst case scenario, you only fall 1 point behind, best case scenario you gain thier base and hold your own (and the third team is now holding the center, so the team that went to your base needs to rethink what they are doing)

They send 1 guy to your base. Laugh at them, call them funny names, and then send 1 guy back to hold your base, or if your doing well in center, send 2 guys back to kill him, then send 1 guy to thier base.

Taking
----
All of the above apply, but first you need to do something to make the holding team screw up. As soon as that happens theres always a scramble, where you can gain either the center, or either of the other 2 bases for a point. Just dont send all 8 of your people to someones base and expect to hold your own. Best to send 4-5 + the ghostly to a base

It's really simple.

If you are in second place during this gametype.

Never go for the homebase from the team that isn't leading!
They will assume you're ganking them because you let the other team increase it's lead. Basically you're giving the victory to the allready leading team and never win because the 3rd placed team wants revenge for your unsportly behaviour.

You'll most likely never win with that strategy unless both opponents are incredibly stupid and have no sense of map strategy.

best tactic is too hold ur own base and middle, but sometimes best to split to the team whos ganking/splitting your base and go to theres.

and keep the snarer back incase anyone goes for your base

splitting the high man is only as effective as the points itself. The greatest part of splitting the high man isn't only getting 2 points, its them not getting any points, but a good team needs to realize what team to play against. But splitting is looked as a Gank because normally the splitting team doesn't win, but splitting isn't only for low teams, sometimes splitting is better when ur the high team. For example, u are winning 21-19-16 or something, and blue is 19, u rez at ur base at 1 minutes, Smart choice -> Everyone but maybe ur ghost or ur snarer hits blue, why? Because then blue is forced to split, they wont have time to take ur base, and if they go back to their base, they lose center, u just don't want them to have 2 points. But then again, as u said, lots of people call this a gank. I've played vs many stubborn people when i've done stuff like this and said i ganked them, but yet i won? The benefits of dual splitting is more neutralizing bases then actually getting the bases, or forcing people to do stuff they aren't trained to do. Dual splitting also makes it not look like a gank, but its very hard to pull dual splits off when ur not on blue, and its also very slow. Sometimes waiting for the other team to split first is a good tactic, if u are in a tie with a team, shortly behind blue, sometimes letting them make the first move is smart. Many people cry gank becuase theys imply do not know how to deal with the situation, most splits can be prevented, and/or with a good leader, null/void. You need to remember who ur playing against, sometimes losing ur base isnt the biggest threat, when ur winning u dont want the team in 2nd place to get 2 pts, so if someone "ganks u" or splits u at the end, don't QQ, be smart. But for ur topic (sorry that i babbled), dual splitting can it be effective: yes, Is it necessary?: No, can it prevent people from thinking ur ganking: yes Overall Effectiveness: depends on situation and how far behind u r.

The problem is this, many ppl high ranked are really bad at the game, they only did play one or two build in their life to achieve their rank. And they can't tell the difference between a GANK and an attempt to make points, but i'll explain, a lot of these people that play here i know them by their names, and their post just make me lol, seeing the stupidity that some "high ranked" players have.

GANK: Gank is when someone throws their chance to win into the trash, and fully attack a team until the match is over or they resign.

Atempt to capture points: They will kill you, camp your base (but always keeping their base too), for the longuest they can to make more points. Eventually they will fall back to ensure they can keep their base and score a few more extra points by trying to capture the center altar or the other team base.

A lot of guys get pushed into their base at 5 minutes into the match and start screaming, &#$&#% THEY ARE GANKING US!

Wrong, learn the game.

Yep. If you're in third place, even if you try to actively split into the 1st place team's base, all it does most of the time is put you deeper in third and let 2nd place catch up.

At least to me, cap points is a dumber version of KotH. Since active splitting rarely works out, you're all fighting for the center anyways. Cap points just emphasize the importance of fire nukes even more.

And when you realize you don't have the holding/Nuking power to win, you simply gank someone... (Damn U Amazon, get over it, I beat you, you have to KEEP on ganking me? )

if your loosing but its still close. try and time kill the team nearest to you (in points) and run for the other teams base with a defencive team, they will send ppl back and you can try and take the alter. also on any multi-team map if you cant win /resign, dont gank.
