Actually, if you run a superior, it's 12.
But yes, it's incredibly lame.

I don't see how anyone can seriously argue that Sloth Hunter's shouldn't have gotten nerfed.
So the unconditional damage at 10 marksmanship is lower than Screaming Shot now, why does that matter? You don't use Sloth Hunter's for it's unconditional damage anyway, and after the conditional damage it's still a lot more damage.
A ranger with 10 marksmanship shouldn't be able to do a retarded amount of damage on the spike.
Honestly, all the changes in this update were good, the reason it's still a bit dissappointing is because it didn't really fix the biggest issues.
Me/E is still perfectly viable, ED rangers are still broken and Hidden Caltrops is untouched.

sloth hunter's SHOULD be nerfed, but it's nerfed improperly. before, it was good on lower marks, and overpowered on high marks. now, it's useless at lower marks, and STILL overpowered at high marks. the nerf didn't solve the problem, and it created a new one.

and that's where you are wrong. sloth hunter's extra damage is now negligible, considering that it's spike damage isn't much higher and it deals even less damage.
pre-nerf, sloth hunter's at 10 marks did about as much damage as lightning strike on a soft target. that's hardly a large amount of damage. it was merely enough for a ranger to become a threat to those below 20% hp. now screaming shot can deliver the same amount of threat, and does more damage over time to boot.

pre-nerf sloth hunters typically does 75ish damage at 10 marks, which is pretty close to lightning strike.

And if you have a minor rune its -10, a perfectly normal number that allows for very tactical use.

Run more marks if you want a marksmanship skill to do more damage, and stop being retarded. Don't run a spike skill on a cripshot bar if you don't have the attributes to make it worth the slot.
Seriously, do you see people complaining that thrill of victory doesn't do enough damage to warrant being a good spike skill on a 10 tactics healsig bar?

Sloth hunters was ridiculously overpowered. 110 damage on crits, with a RANGED attack at 10 spec, and that's before damage modifiers. How can anyone complain here.

Nice minor update overall...
I rly don't think Me/E got hit that hard... The change to glowing ice can't rly affect the template since it is viable even without attunement and that skill.
The SH shot nerf was about time. Its damage output was ridiculous.
But I'm still waiting for the march skill update to be reverted...

it USED to be worth the slot, but now it isn't. at the same time, it is still overpowered on expert's dex bars. the nerf failed to solve the problem (that is, make expert's dex builds more manageable), and created a new problem (skill no longer usable on other ranger builds). after all, removing ~20 damage from 150 damage is hardly noticeable, but removing ~14 damage from 80 is a pretty big difference.
sloth hunter's never did 110 criticals at 10 marks before. the most it could do was 93, which given the low marks spec, rarely happened.

While i like the move for the ele emanage skill to nrg storage (even if it is just for flavor) i dislike anets reasoning doing so. If you want to hit the me/e bar, you hit fast casting. 'All non mesmer skills below 2 seconds are not affected by fast casting'. You could just completely remove the fast casting on secondaries which i would like to see, but probably cause an uproar in pve.
While at it, change expertise to only affect ranger skills.
edit: i really dont see why people even want the ranger class be able to dish out high amounts of damage. keep orb as you ranged spike skill, everything that can compete with it, should never have existed.

The only reason Sloth Hunter's took this long to get a (needed) nerf is so people would buy EoTN. Every class has such a skill (Patient Spirit, Distracting Strike, etc.) but this one was a little more broken than the others.
I think interruption might need to be addressed. People have gotten much better at interrupting Ele skills on a primary and that's where a lot of the melee hate can be used. 40/40 sets help but then it's just becoming a game of chance which GW usually tries to stay away from.
