Shift in the GvG meta?
I don't follow the GvG tournies closely, but every time I have watched a battle in the past, it has been with guilds using the same basic setup. That same setup is still being used.
2 Warriors
2 Monks
1 Ritualist
1 Ranger
2 Mesmers
Now, that isn't hard and fast, but it is very typical, and the differences are quite small.
However, today I was watching several of the monthly championship matches, and saw some VERY different team builds. This was by guilds in the top 20, some in the top 10.
1 E/Me
7 Mo/E
2 N/Me
3 Mesmers
2 Monks
1 Ritualist
3 Monks
1 Ranger
3 Mesmers
1 Ritualist
Now, is this something that is going to stay? Or is it something that is guilds trying to be creative and surprise the opposition? Some of it worked far better than I expected, and some fell flat on its face.
Will there be a shift away from the physical damage meta?

It is mostly to do with the removal of VoD, which was abused by RAWR and others to wait until VoD to use splinter to destroy stuff.
The 7 monk team was using an exploit that was recently closed with the addition of the aggressiveness tie-breaker.

Hawk, I understand what happened, and why. I am wondering if it is going to continue, or stop after the monthly tourney.
And the 7 Monk team I saw was TODAY.

if a-net makes the changes permanent im saying it has a good chance of staying, if they continue to make changes then it might change.

It was a team designed to prevent all damage to the guild lord, not smite.

The monk team running it today probablly didn't recognize the function of the new mechanics.

And they failed at staying alive. One Monk and the E/Me went back door on the Burning Isle and the Ele nuked the Guild Lord. He couldn't do ANYTHING to kill it though, until he realized he needed to kill the Bodyguard first. By the time he killed the Bodyguard, he had died twice.
The other 6 Monks were getting killed by the other team, as Soul Barbs raped them using mostly enchants to stay alive. As a guild ranked 14 at the time, I was surprised to see them die so easily to Soul Barbs spiking. [StS] was just too smart for them I guess.

A tip for wondering if something reveals a shift in the meta: look at what is successful and copied, rather than writing down a list of weird build setups.

The only minor shift that has recently somewhat happened was the Me/E sometimes being replaced by a primary Shatterstone ele. The rest is pretty much the same.
