Just came back to Guild wars....and I'm lost, I barely recognize the game now.
If someone can just a give brief, maybe 1-2 sentence for how each profession is doing or just a brief paragraph or something that would be great, please and thank you.

Just walked into various forms of pvp, and well...wasn't nice.
Im confuzzled.

Welcome to the pvp subforum.

There is more damage flying around. Paragons have been mostly replaced by pew-pew rangers wich deal more damage. Warriors endurance is pretty amazing. Mo/w is getting more and more popular. Pblock is mesmer elite of choice. WoH/RC is the usual backline. Rit runners are still around, mostly using hidden caltrops or caretakers charge. Me/e fastcast water snares are popular in various forms (lyssa's aura, icy shackles), but now usually carry inspiration magic spells such as waste not want not, drain enchant, inspired hex. Rawrspike is the new fortressway with a standrit. Double meleehate with e/n + me/e has been seen, weak spike though imo. Passive defenses and partyheals have been nerfed (ward v melee, aegis in partyrange, SoR, LoD).
VoD is gone and replaced by a shitty tiebreaker of whoever dealt most damage to the enemy guildlord, but i assume that will get changed somewhere in the near future.

Tombs is still pretty boring.

Hmmm well quite a bit has changed, sins can keep SF up 100% now, a few unused elites were buffed to be completely imba(i.e hidden caltrops) gvg was completely RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed over, removing vod and the npc march and adding in agression they do not, however give you a meter showing aggression so if it comes down to it, you just have to hope and pray that you got it

recently, there have been new additions in the form of pve and titles, wisdom and treasure hunter titles are now account wide, and all three storylines have handbooks like EotN the nightfall books give ss/lb points, the factions storybooks give kurz/lux faction, im not quite sure what the proph books give, and then there is a book for all three campaigns called "Young Hero of Tyria" im not 100% sure on how to fill it, or what reward it gives...but its there

How long have you been gone? There's been a load of changes this past year if you've been away since GW:EN came out. Check the game updates page on the wiki and where it links to. Pay particular attention to the August 7 2008 update, September 4 2008 update and November 13 2008 update.

Prophs book = The Flameseeker Prophecies. It gives Gold and XP. There are Normal Mode and Hard Mode versions of this book.

Young Heroes of Tyria = a book that fills in the gaps of the three books, "The Flameseeker Prophecies", "Shiro's Return" and "Night Falls" for any characters who have access to all three campaigns, but only those who can play the missions not included in these books, and only has a HM version.

Ele: dont exist
Mes: water / VoR & WW
Necro: rare but for FF
Monk: hasn't changed at all
assassin: dont exist (finally)
ritualist: WoW and runningz
paragon: i rarely see them now
dervs: same old same old.

Some teams still run eles for the split shatterstone guy, but most teams are focused on defensive spikes rather than splitting. Paragons are pretty bad in general now compared to the damage output of the ranger, with the only advantage being anthem of weariness and mirror/cry. Otherwise, pretty accurate.

Given this meta, I really wouldn't mind seeing some split templates slightly buffed to see if that'll promote a more balanced ratio of split to defensespike builds.

For the ranger, big damage with bow or they use other weapons?

And for the dervish, since I'm new, I'm not sure what you mean by same old same old. What exactly are they?

Big damage with quick activation bow attacks on spike

Dervishes still just do big damage.

This sounds like fun.

Waru: Derv-like spike with WE or honorable hammer split. Largely map dependant.
Ranger: Pew-pew spike assist with interrupts
ele: split templates, glyph of immolation
mesmer: FC snares
necro: Pain of disenchantment, maybe foul feast
monk: Stances with some healing
assassin: hero battles
ritualist: flag enthusiast with big assassin snare
paragon: none
dervish: none

Physical is really the only damage in 8v8 play atm, and its a lot. Rend enchantment is popular. Some teams will try to run split builds on certain maps.

mesmer: mesmers are eles now, but better (usually)
necro: There are still no necros
monk: still woh + rc
rit: weapon of warding and koala pot.
ele: Shatterstone on the guild lord for the retarded tiebreaker.
paragon: run a ranger
dervish: run a warrior.
assassin: don't bother.
