Palm strike, keep it or nuke it?
Nice and all, aNet decided to buff some elites to shake things up a little. Too bad (yes I'm biased) they made assassins more playable again. Personally I'm getting rather annoyed by the abundance of palm strike-trampling ox assassins that pop up as of late. Anyone sharing my annoyance or are there people that actually LIKE the skill?

I think palm strike should do more damage, or have no recharge so its as good as flare.

Less damage (55-65ish at high crit), shorter cripple (8-10s or smth at high crit), 5-6r.

In every RA team you get at least one palm strike sin. I think that means something. gogo nerf, 10 nrg, 10 recharge and maybe a bit less dmg.

i'm annoyed by the abundance of word of healing monks. they're practically required, everywhere. woh should be nerfed.
false logic
palm strike's current power is the minimum for sins to be playable in gvg (not that i play it). they're decent but not spectacular. you see 1 or 2 of them sometimes, but not in every team. they're all over RA, but when has that ever mattered.
you want less palm strike sins? so do i, sort of. buff other assassin options to the same level as palm strike (same but not surpassing it). and then we will have assassin build variety at the appropriate level of power.

If they don't fix the recharge to something less spammable and more skillful they should change the condition it applies. Weakness or poison every 2 seconds is manageable but cripple every 2 seconds is really over the top. Although this isn't currently the worst overpowered skill in 4v4, it has gotten pretty bad.

Define 'appropriate level of power' here, the old shadow prison days maybe? man that was beyond horrible. Suddenly there were dumb kids raping everyone in PvP by simply pushing 12345->hahahalol->you're dead.
I like sin builds that do pressure, like the Shattering Assault build. 3/4 of guru screamed NERF and I didn't agree with them. Iron Palm however is mainly used in 1234lolspike templates that are again meant to kill the target in 1 go. I know having only SA as viable option gets boring, but Palm Strike in its current form isn't the way to go.
SA was about utility, you have a hard time killing someone on your own using the classic Golden fox-WS-SA combo.
I don't know about GvG too well actually, but I can't imagine sins being better then more durable melee characters there tbh. I'm mainly talking all 4-people team arena's such as RA/TA/AB here. Anet has a habit of ruining all PvP formats except GvG every once in a while (wail of doom, foulfeast, magebane, w/e) and I don't like that :P.

Cytherea's got a point. How often do you see sins in any real PvP situation except in gimmicky builds? If this can make them more usefull in GvG and the like it might be worth keeping around, at least for a while.
And after an update you always see a crapload of people runinng the newly buffed skills (VoR?) but people usually go back to their old builds after a while. I say leave it for now and see how it turns out.

The change to Palm Strike still does not bring Assassins up to the level of Warriors in the vast majority of PvP situations and rulesets.

If anything Palm Strike needs a nerf to 8 second recharge. If you take a look in the Assassin's forum (or PvXwiki) there's builds there that use it three times in one chain ending with BoS. The low recharge means that a 3rd dual attack can be used immediately after the normal chain. The damage of the chain itself is already past Shocksin's heyday without a third Dual.
What is good about it is that it leaves room for some actual utility on the 'sins bar. A sin needs only 3 more attack skills to have viable damage and that leaves 3-4 skills that are up to the sin. I don't think Assassins have had this much room on the bar since Factions. But I sadly doubt the mindset of the average assassin user can move beyond instagib as shown by all the builds on PvXwiki.

I haven't played Sins a whole lot since Factions came out; but since the buff I've been playing one much more. I think it was a step in the right the direction although the cripple and especially the DMG could be toned down alot. Then again would it really matter that much as the mainstream bar being used pretty much has the enemy on its ass anyways. It adds different style to playing a sin now much like a warrior can, although the sin is still prone to block mechanics, and lower armor. It's a good change from having to almost always use a bland shadow step bar, or crappy build reliant on enchants, isn't this the kind of bar everyone wanted the sin to have at some point in time?

Agree. Sins are just mediocre in PvP, especially with nerfed shadowsteps that already couldn't be used too much due to long recharge times (except maybe beguilding haze as that can rape someone), which is kind of a shame as thats where the dagger combos (which have also gotten incredibly repetetive and old) are meant to be used.

Sinsplit already died in GvG, people are back to the dual rangers/snare stuff now. (Except Teazer who always play sins.) So naturally nothing will be done.

Before yes, i though that palm needs to be nerfed, but now i looked at sins in general. Now i can say, keep it the way it is, or just make +2 recharge, but rly rly SMALL nerf. Palm strike does not need to be nerfed, but other sins elites has to be buffed, so sins can have some viable options to play, not just one.

[[Mark of Insecurity] is far worse, but I still don't like [[Palm Strike]. Maybe increase the recharge so it can't be spammed as much or make it only follow after dual attacks like [[Moebius Strike].
