(This is my first post. If it doesn't belong here, feel free to move it.)

I bought Guild Wars Prophecies about a year ago (even though in-game store now indicates that I have purchased Guild Wars: GOTY Edition) and played PvE a little but it wasn't for me.

I'd like to get into PvP. I've tried it a little and I like it. However, even though I've been reading about it all for the last 2 days, I'm unclear as to what I need to buy.

1. What is the cheapest way to get access to all skills and gear without having to unlock skills/items through PvE or faction points? My guess is PvP Kit + Skill unlock packs + Item unlock pack, but I'm not sure.

2. I understand that the Factions, Nightfall and Eye of the North skill unlock packs give you access to skills that were made available through these campaigns, but I'm unclear about the difference between Core and Prophecies packs.

3. If I start buying skill unlock packs, but don't want to get them all at the same time, in which order should I proceed?

4. Until then, using only Prophecies (or GOTY?) right out of the box, which profession/build should I look for for fun in Random Arenas?

I'm not sure if it all makes sense, but any info would be really appreciated.

The cheapest way of getting an unlocked account is to buy a used account.

Prophecies contains two sets of skills - Core and Prophecies-only skills. Respective unlock packs exist for each.

1&2, no idea.
3. Buy them all. you will be limited without one, if you realy want to only buy a couple, then give an idea of what sort of builds ou would like to play, and which PvP type.
4. Shockaxe is the only meta build that springs to mind with proph only skills.

1: You should buy all the unlock packs; Prophecies, Factions, NF, Eotn and core as well as item unlock.

2: the individual unlock packs give you access to the skills exclusive to that particular game, which can't be found in other games. The core skills are skills which can be found in all 3 full games and/or eotn

3: depending on which profession you want to play. You should get core and one other at least, they're cheap as chips anyway so if you're serious about getting into PvP get all of them. Also, by buying the unlock packs, this unlocks the skills for use by your heroes in the pve game

4: Play the profession you like. Eles are pretty much ftw in the backline, warriors for tanking, yada yada... best try and see what you like. For builds see pvxwiki.com as there's buckets of them

As for the advice on buying a used account, it's against T&Cs so if you get caught, you might have it banned. You also don't know who you're buying from so you don't know what you're getting. You also don't want to give strangers your CC details. Basically, if you're interested in just buying a maxed out account, you may as well just save your money and buy yourself a bunch of sweeties to eat right now... Immediate gratification gets boring pretty quick...

For RA, you can run an empty skill bar with rez and still win/have fun.
