Obviously TA is now a format driven by skill rather than skills, because if you don't play the same skills as everyone else, you're pretty much farked! Discuss the 12/11/08 update, which solved the problem of bad players beating you with easy to use and ridiculously powered bars! Now, all bars are now easy to use and ridiculously overpowered, and skill difference must be the only factor involved in matches!

I agree there isn't much variety. I DON'T agree that these builds take no skill to play. It does require skill to interrupt well, it does require skill to dchop crucial skills and bulls strike at the right moment. It does require skill to keep yourself and your team alive when under pressure of a good ranger+warrior. It does require skill to ff the crippled from palm strike so he can't get off his chain while also using your hexes. So there might not be a lot of variety, but noone stops you from running a creative build (except your teammates perhaps ).

This is why TA has always been basically just one big joke for years. Some may even say it's more trashy than AB and RA. The only "variety" you will ever see in this joke of an arena is the occasional RA team, even then, there's not much variety at all.

Hopefully LC and PS will be fixed or killed in the next update, PR could also use a slight adjustment on the movement speed. I quit playing TA altogether when every balanced team we faced was PR / BA turret / LC / WoH or the PS dual monk gimmick. And btw the people left playing balanced have no right to shit talk or call anyone else a gimmick when the aforementioned balanced is equally as stupid and boring to face.

seconded, last update made all 4-man formats a big PITA to play. When I play necro I' m usually drawing cripple 24/7 before ox lands since my curses don' t stop the sin from spamming PS all over everyone.

On a lighter not so dumb choice for an elite topic. IMO the necros in 4v4 are the most overpowered annoying...you get it. Wail of doom + foul feast + plague sending + antimelee+stances to be cool like monks+ res = homo. That and the fortress monks x.x stances need to die make bad monks look good.
But yea the offense is fine, each has its own way of being dealed with :S mostly the current midline to backline meta that forces others to rely on certain tactics and puts a lot of conditions and builds to shame with foul feast and so on.

hey, at least a lot of players run it, so one gets to have plenty of mirror matches! =]
on a side note..dont underestimate a mel resi boon monk...in any pressure build that relies on conds and hexes that kind of monk build carries quite an advantage, if you dont know how to deal with it properly.
as for stances..without them everything just gets steam rolled and trained to death. even with stances it sometimes happen...dont tell me u srsly expect a 1 sec cast time guardian to be able to handle pressure from dual BA and PR or single BA, PR and LC nec.

Almost all other monk defense is made obsolete by f*cked up enchant strips and KD madness, i'd rather see more prots then stances, but I'd be a dead monk in seconds.

This update was ridiculous!!!! My magebane ranger with remove hex is no longer viable because of lamer R/W bars!!!! I cant lineback with grasping hammer anymore because all these NOOBER LAMER primal rage axe warriors take NOOB SHIELD BASH!!!!!!!!!! The most complex and skill orientated and tactically rich necro elite in the game, wail of doom, has been made obsolete by the spammable trash hex lingering curse. THERE IS ALMOST NO POINT RUNNING MONK ANYMORE because they CANT EVEN HEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is the point in a monk that cant even heal!?!?!? We have started running a sod monk because woh is NEXT TO USELESS.

as you can see, it's been like this for ages now. this was basically how it went when the "w r n" "balance" (lol) was considered "balanced". it just got to the point where skills keep turning stronger and you being able to pack in more defense without losing the offense.
i'm not even going to talk about the time when different "midline casters" were used like eda, bsurge, trappers and the such. but shrug, it's been known for ages, can only accept it and try to run the most op shit now.
