huh, nice attempt to log down victories and etc. I think i'll try the same, i've been frustrated every time I monk lately, getting either double monks or facing double monks on the other team. BTW what district did you play this in? No doubt this weekend we'll have more monks so thus I'm going to play a bit on my necro or mesmer, as I find hexers to be best at handling no monk teams and going for the 5 or even 10th consecutive victory due to their ability to both shutdown opposing healing and reducing dmg to the extent that the team has the ability to survive to deal enough dmg for the victory.

There's a lot of interesting things I could say about doing a rigorous study/test, and I'd love to see one... but I'll save you an the ardouous amount of work you'd need to do to get anything conclusive, given that RA isn't truly random at all, and varies on all sorts of sociological factors such as popularity of classes/archetypes, time of day, and so forth.
We know how the system works. It's a simple queue, 4 slots are open, 1st person to hit "join" goes in slot one, 2nd in 2, and so on. When all 4 slots are filled, they get shipped off to the arena, if it's not filled, you get "no opposing party" message until enough others hit 'enter." That's what makes syncing so ridiculously easy, and you can even see in larger places like JQ how the synced players tend to be near each other in the party list (like 2, 3, 5) - plus when a sync fails, typically someone is in slot 7 or 8 on one team and 1/2 of the other. In short, it's extremely obvious that it boils down to simple join order.

Seems you've never played against a super-powerful-impossible-to-defeat ZB W/Mo. They're strong, but not too brave. Plus they heal better than nearly all RA monks and pack damage that's better than most non-healing characters in RA.

A week's worth of analysis was not delivered as promised.
I think I see why this was trending off topic as well. The extraneous data included in the sample (number of wins, builds used) ends up being the data that is easiest to use to try to support belief of a trend. Given the choice to ignore what I am told to ignore, I can only critique the methods used. To which I can only state: there is no analysis (and I don't know if the data can even be analyzed properly, so that's not a problem).
It's just a swiss-cheese sampling of data followed by a conclusion of 'randomness'. Just about no one can prove/disprove any of what has been written because it's missing valuable information. But what's worse, I fear that data sampled in this manner might never truly prove anything; unless you put in the exhausting effort to document tons more samples as well as times. In that case, you would be sampling what could possibly be the regular playing hours of other players.
For anyone just starting out in the data sampling process understand this: science does not care for experiments that don't verify anything. Before you start plotting data in any manner, make sure you have started with a provable hypothesis. If you have no clue whatsoever how to start this type of research, start by trying to learn the scientific method. It doesn't matter that you formally create a hypothesis, you just need to know what you intend to prove.
The way you become good at something is to first imitate a process proven to work to some degree by other people. The same can be said about builds, learn everything about how they are run as well as copying the skills on the bar. At which point, you can tweak things to make it work better for yourself. Only when you finally become good at something can you just act naturally and get solid results. If you just start out acting naturally, the problem is you will not be at a level where you are able to critique your own results, and you will still be stuck depending on other people to critique them. That's something useful for relying on in school, but afterwards the school atmosphere itself is only a crutch.

Yah this sounds about right, I've always found RA to be a bad experience.
Those builds are fine, though I'd use return over shield bash and devastating hammer because magehunter's is outdated.
I'm kind of upset about this double faction weekend, as typically I play all weekend and get like 700k for title tracks / 40ish zkeys, but I don't know how to make RA/TA fun.
Smiting monks vary quite a bit - some will actually keep you alive through small spikes and heal the team, others will let you slowly bleed to death between fights while you ping your HP and shout for a heal.
Anybody flaming OP is an idiot.

Usually it goes like this:
We don't have a monk.
I get stacked with 10 hexes.
We die.
Alternatively:
We have a monk.
The other team has a monk.
I kill the other team's monk (by myself).
I'm dead.
Our monk is dead.
We die.

lol the OP is right I usually start off as my pvp derv for a bit then get pi$$ed of cos keep getting for my teams no monk teams and fighting against team with a healer nearly always so then I think what the hell getting no healer on teams so I'll go roll a monk. Then surprise surprise after I done that nearly always I get a double monk or triple monk team - wtf.
I can understand why ur fighting mostly against teams with a healer is cos they are stll going around in active ra whereas the more likely to lose no healer teams are getting killed and restarting in the district.
I guess though is better to roll some sort of healer all the time

Guys we need a proper scientific excursion that leaves no room for error nor any stone unturned. Without it, how are we going to be able to answer the question, "Does RA suck?"

I enjoyed the first post, made me laugh. Not because of the lack of data but because the results are really close to what you get in RA. Hop on a healer and you get a shitty team with casters, no melee, or dual healing chars. Hop on caster get a team that can't kill. Hop on a war you get gayed by casters with hexes/condi's. Hop on a ranger bring daze and see the fail of melee classes on your team. RA is tits up retarded in the past year.
