Player Courtesy for the RA weekend
Ra has become infamous for its level of build and player quality, but I just want to say that for the sake of everyone's enjoyment that we keep the namecalling and flaming to a minimum this weekend. I just want to point out that not everyone has all the campaigns and thus all the skills, have every skill unlocked or even know how to unlock skills for pvp (thus the wammos who probably see no better builds than those they can put together with the skills available)and not everyone has played as long as the veterans to this game.
I know myself that I've called newbs "noobs" rather rashly and I regret it. At the risk of being labeled a scrub, it's not all about winning. People experiment, people play to have fun. I just want to say that before you start the pm wars and telling that monk with healing breeze to uninstall or lecturing dagger eles about how their build is shit, to just take a deep breath and wonder how it would be like to recieve such harsh words. No one is going to listen to constructive criticism if you make it sound like an insult. No one is going to be happy at the end of the day. Not everyone is an idiot or asshole, they don't don't deserve to be treated like such.
I've been that guy who goes "ascalon is this way "->", i've been that hardcore gw player who struts his glad rank like it means it entitles me to special treatment. Those 900+ glad points now only reflect how much time i've devoted to increasing my epenis size for my gladiator title instead of being a better person. This bonus weekend, I think i'm going to try increasing the title for the latter instead. Thanks for hearing me out.

been there, done that. problem is that most people just wont listen even if you do PM constructive criticism instead of flame, or even worse they'll flame you back :\
also, since you've insisted on opening this topic, it would be helpful if you can define "having fun" cause I dont know about you but I dont view "having fun" by knowingly using a completely retarded build just to upset those teammates of mine who actually have a slight clue...

assholes deserve to be flamed, i'm just trying to say that not everyone is automatically an asshole for using a bad build. I'm not gandhi here, not saying love your neighbor or something like that. Just want to give everyone the benefit of doubt.
As for me personally I have fun with builds that do strange things, but don't detract from winning. I mean I know I could just go hex on my necro, but sometimes I like to use fun builds like a 130 hp [build prof=n/mo ][spoil victor][blood renewal][masochism][dark pact] [touch of agony] [protective bond] [resurrection signet][Angorodon's Gaze][/build] =>
] for fun combos. Sure I know it's fragile given certain circumstances, and dp is going to suck, but it also gives me fun moments when a sin kills himself under 3 seconds and his monk just goes "wtf just happened". It's not an optimal build with a monk, but it is a build that has gotten to 10 wins w/ no monk teams.

I get mad when I see a monk get taken down legitimately by a well done spike and then teammates automatically assume the monk is incompetent and stupid. Some people even report the monk for leeching. On both sides of the battle, it's just disgusting. I know they are probably impatient for having to wait for a monk and STILL ending up losing, but there's just so much hate in the atmosphere.

I know what you mean, some ppl jump to conclusions way to quick. Some builds might look bad but actually work out pretty well if you try them yourself. If someone says something, just say something back. it's always fun lol.

i flame players who annoy me (linebackers, hexers, etc), after i kill them. but not if they kill me (cuz that's pathetic).
i flame players who flame me. i flame shitty builds and shitty decision-making (like overextending). i flame noobs and hope they exit the game.
it's the internet. it doesnt matter.

until you steal someone's dragonsword of leetsauce, and that person track you down and stab you and your family.
don't laugh, it's happened already, though not in GW.

Lineage II ftw.
As for the OP, I am generally nice when it comes to in-game so long as someone is being nice back. I think in general it just depends how the person acts, and if they're willing to improve or not. You're never going to get new players if you treat them like dirt, and without new players this gametype dies.

The solution to this problem is turn off all-chat and talk to no-one in RA.

I probably won't do any RA this weekend, but if I do you better believe that I'm going to laugh at all the 12345 sins that try to complete a combo after I dshot lead attacks and their whole chain fails miserably. That's the only reason I do RA anymore really.
Oh, and melshotting melee guys and running away while they degen to death and shout about cowardice and honor. RA is serious business.

I usually don't say anything at all, that includes trying to give people constructive criticism. Nobody listens and giving someone good advice if they have the typical "f*** you" mentality i find to be pointless even if your intentions are to help them out. Just a fly on the wall i guess.

Unlucky for you, 99% of RA players (as well as the rest of the player community) never sets foot to any kind of forums.

If one can be arsed to even bother about such things that are inevitably part of RA, as well as TA, HA and even gvg, then hf with what u could clearly call a Sisyphean task. U give constructive feedback and tips to ppl who actually ask you about it and will therefore appreciate it, not to every nab roaming about with yet another terribad build.
And actually, there's a LOT of idiots, esp if u go to American RA, but thats nothing new either

Once again, your so-called "courtesy" is a waste, esp if u plan on using it as an approach to every single random player u'll ever encounter. No one says u have to flame always - that's your call, but occasional flaming here and there is imho certainly better than an everlasting and self-wasting "courtesy" in a place where everyone cares strictly about themselves only.
Go TA or gvg if u wanna exert courtesy ;o

How about this:
Just turn off local and team chat and just steamroll RA.
Scrubs/Newbs/Noobs don't visit sites like GW Guru or they wouldn't bring such a terrible build/have no idea what they're doing in the first place.

its random arena so you can't expect people to play perfect. If you rage in ra then go play team arena imo..
