Hah yeah I love those my monk vs your monk battles. Thats when my mesmer buddy kicks the crap out them . when you're outnumbered all you need is a few lucky HCT guardians .
There is one statistic that is missing from this forum. Graph the score/wins vs how many monks a team has, that'll be interesting.

Do you mean how many monks or how many heal/protters? Because monks would include ROJ smiters, and heal/prot/support whateveryouwishtocallit would include restore rits. Not that many rits in AB, but even so...

Fair point, when I say monks I mean healers, and by healers I mean the guy on ur team that keeps the other guys alive be it a rit monk paragon (yes ive seen a good para healer before) or whatever.

Whenever I log on it always seems to be on Grenz, which I really cannot stand.
My favourite is definately Etnaran.
I'm not sure what kind of trends this prevalence of Grenz-time shows really. I hesitate to say more competant Luxon players pushing back Kurz players - as I know the distinction between them is arbitrary. However, a couple of years ago I postulated (oh yes, "postulated") that there might be a difference between the types of players who would choose to be either Lux or Kurz - maybe leading to a difference in playstyle etc?

Smite monks seem to be going out of fashion on the luxon side...
Today I was standing on a capped shrine, with lots of kurzicks mobbing around but rapidly being defeated... saw a monk casting RoJ near the edge, leet hammer deaths charged to him. Big pillar of light appears on me, instead of the shrine. Hah.
Also great with meteor shower.
Also has anyone noticed that: when the kurzicks own the luxons, they taunt and taunt and laugh in local chat, making the luxons feel terrible. But when the luxons own the kurzicks (as usual), they just feel sorry for the kurzicks ?

I usually taunt Kurzicks because I play AB for the trashtalking and ranking corpses :V

I only rank sweaty palm sins who mistake my ele for an easy target other than that I'm with Lux. I pity opponents who just fold without a decent fight. And there's taunters on both sides.

In terms of being "competent", I would say that it is entirely possible that Lux appears to be more competent because good players get a chance to compete more and thus win more. Kurz has much longer waiting times, after all.

long wait times+players going afk+that cinematic bug that i mentioned in another thread=ouch.
i don't know how statistically significant this all is, but the games lost because of one guy blacking out his entire team for up to a minute into match start might factor into all this also.
of course, the real reason why luxon seems to be better than kurzick at AB, is because most of kurzicks who have a clue are playing JQ. i might be wrong on this, but there seems to be a pretty significant advantage for kurzick there.

What do you mean by blacking out?

Ah! Thanks. I'm blind. Hm. Didn't know that. Maybe that's why it feels like there's one team missing from the game sometimes. I always thought it was because four people were being idiots. (Which is, unfortunately, entirely possible.)

then we compound the fact that AB matches on most of the maps are won or lost in the first confrontation. having a team of laggers while playing as attackers on any of the biased maps is basically autolose.
btw, the AB matchmaking system would occasionally epicfail and match 2 teams against 3. fortunately, it occurs on both sides.

I have never seen this, but I did have this loading lag plenty of times on Luxon side. Most of the time it lasts only 20-30 seconds, though - not long enough to extend into the match.
As for JQ, I don't play it much, but when I did I haven't really seen any Kurzick advantage. Most of the games seem to be determined by the number of bots/leechers... your side has 2 leechers = you lose. Melee without a teleport can also be counted as leechers because they're absolutely useless. Yay for well-designed maps with over 9000 stairs and cliffs.
Oh yea, that's also why I don't play JQ.

I find that less Luxons are playing when AB is in Kurz territory (personally, I'm just sick of Grenz, and I know a few people who share my sentiment) while on the rare occasions that it goes to Etnaran or Kaanai, you'll see a district packed with full groups during (American) prime time + a second district half-full. You'll hardly even see any people to invite - it's just everyone standing around in groups getting NoP'd.

from what i've heard, the turtles and juggernaughts behave differently in some situations. i can't remember what it was though, but i think the turtles are slower at handing off jade chunks or something.

Heh - on the rare times when we get to attack Lux territory, I prefer Kaanai to Etnaran. Saltspray's my I WILL NOT TOUCH THIS UNLESS IT IS DOUBLE FACTION WEEKEND map.
I don't know, though. Maybe it's a vicious cycle. I know I'm pickier about teams when I'm (rarely!) in Etnaran/Kaanai. Grenz and Ancestral tend to get laxer standards simply because I know they're on home ground, and I'm not sure how picky you guys are, but I keep running into people I just kicked. Like, say, W/E with Meteor Shower. He pings, we kick, next game in he's sitting pretty in another team, and we still end up playing with him.
ARGH.
/rant.
Add that to encounters that go along the line of
Leader: *pings bar*
Boyfriend (usually leader): *pings bar*
Me: *pings bar*
Leader: *starts*
Me: Hey, hang on, the rit hasn't pinged a bar yet.
Rit: Why should I?
Boyfriend: So we know you're not a complete idiot?
Me: Idiot aside, so we don't overlap. I'm a healer. Are you?
Rit: Maybe, maybe not, I handle weapons...
Timer does not stop. We enter match.
Shortly into the whole thing, "...oh dear, I brought WoH instead of Xinrae's. Should have asked you guys to stop."
Me: ...why've you got WoH in the first place!
Rit: ...because I didn't feel like asking you guys to stop.
Needless to say, the BF and I left that team the next round and started our own. (He does the actual kicking, I do the criticizing in guild chat.) I'm... not really surprised lots of teams get pwnt. Just, you know, there has to be a better explanation than that for the perpetual Grenz. I hope. *fervent

Hadn't done AB for a couple weeks but ended up just giving up...
It seems the kurzicks left in AB really are terrible...
My team went round capping and killing pretty much everything in the way and we felt like we were like a cat chasing it's tail because the the other two kurzick teams were completely useless...this happened 2 or 3 times out of 5.
In the end i just started roleplaying to get some fun out of the game...
What i really don't understand is if our team is fleeing from a huge luxon mob, how come the other shrines aren't getting capped?

Same. It happens everywhere, really. You can yell things like "DON'T FOLLOW US" and they'll... follow you. *facepalm.
What timezone are you in? There are enough lamenting folks here that I'm surprised we don't see each other in AB.

So a few weeks ago I was playing and it went to Saltspray after the perpetual Grenz, right ...
Kurzicks are yelling anti-suxon taunts in local at round start, and I'm just like "Grenz in 20 minutes".
I log out after about 20 minutes of ownage, come back an hour later.... Grenz.
Nowadys I'll actually talk to kurzicks in whisp after the match and give them tips / ping them my build.
Also owning on Ancestral is fun, Luxons were complaining about it being too easy / not getting double faction when it went to Kaanai recently.
