Qft.. I can't believe they actually added so many random barriers to playing PvP:
-Not all arena's unlocked
-Having to unlock skills
And for GvG:
-14 days or less faction (less incentive to play for a lot of people and less incentive to switch guilds)
-14 days or no AT
-Paying for guest invites
Pretty much all of those have to go, I understand inviting/sending guest invites is a good money sink, but it's very annoying when you have a PvP only account (really, there are new people who buy those).

While "balance" can be discussed to death in too many ways, these are barriers that serve no purpose (or do not actually do anything to the purpose they were supposed to address) and present needless difficulty to entering PvP.

+1 on that. Had I not unlocked HA by going to ToPK before the switch, I highly doubt I'd ever have HA'd. I think having HA locked is probably one of the stupider things ANet has done with pvp in general. Reasonable men can disagree on many balance issues, but the HA lock is just silly.

This will never happen... it's a nice concept to help get new people to start HA but besides the technical issues, I don't think it doesn't make sense with the concept of HA. HA is supposed to be for organized teams that are well-equipped for all possible opposing teams and map situations. Why would they promote 'trying your luck' in such an arena? In 4v4 it makes more sense because it is more about self-reliance anyway (it IS the 'gladiator' title), and you are not trying to reach an end goal like HoH - you just get points for how many teams you can survive facing. Plus, in a general sense, HA is supposed to be 'higher level' pvp I think (I don't say that to be vain or anything), since you do have to 'beat' RA and TA first basically, to get there. 'Random HA' would be like regressing, 'dumbing it down' if you will, when HA shouldn't be like that.... as someone said earlier, the solution has been and probably will be for a while: get some friends and work together on a team build and building experience until you can play together decently. It's not easy but it's what most people have had to do and I can't see them changing things to 'fix HA' anytime soon... if anything I'd go with the 6v6 idea to garner faster matches/more interest... or maybe remove godly heroes...
P.S. If dead game is dying I think they're going to let dead game die. And to make HA noob-friendly I think they are happier with their noob-friendly skill balances as opposed to making any structural changes of real value

After returning to the game after several years, I wanted to try Tombs again.. to find out it had gone and HA had come in place.
So I went there, started advertising (brushed up on interrupting and stuff) in order to get in a team. Did that for 1.5hours. Didn't get invited because I was r0.
Seriously, complaining HA is dying and not accepting 'new' players is kind of... strange.
Not saying that no-one accepts one, but let's face it. All you see in Party-search is groups asking for r5+ (with Show Ur Title added to it).
Not meant as a rant, though being a 'noob'... (well, an old fart from 3 years ago) ... seeing all the demands the experienced players are asking makes one feel like 'Ok, never mind.'

Im in for giving everyone a chance in HA...but i doubt A-net will do anything about it. Plus everyone always has something negative to say about these kind of issues.
And finding "friends" or "guildies" that will let you do HA with them is hard cuz most only want r5+ and no nubs. Plus guilds that advertise HA never really do let members play anyway...
I always wanted to do HA...only played a few games but never got a rank because im a "HA noob". These are the kind of things that make me wanna /ragequit because i know i will never get to really play.
Plus the way they took out the Fame Farmers makes it even more impossible for people to ever get a good rank
