You can scrimmage in a guild hall with 1-8 players per team. Just hit the guild battle option in your hall.
That said, GW is a team oriented game, and unless you're playing the same builds then 1v1 is going to be the most ridiculous form of buildwars possible.

Yes. You can do a scrimmage from your guild hall with any member of the guild or guest.

As others have mentioned, it is quite possible. However, 1v1 is rarely attempted by anyone other than the greatest of Guild Wars players. Only the strong and brave do 1v1.

Some people in my guild enjoy 1v1'ing (some seriously enough to use maintained enchants-kick).
But to me and most people it's a bit of a joke, although it was hilarious when one of the officers ran a castersin and someone else ran an ineptitude mes with empathy, insidious parasite etc.

no thats the mark of buildwars. in 1v1 its not hard if you know what your opponent is going to be running...

Of course. The mark of skill is when you buildswars your opponent before you know what he's running. In a real 1v1 all you know is the other guy's primary profession and (sometimes) his secondary. Against a Me/N the Assassin guessed correctly (read that again: Me/N) and so wins, that's skill.

Buildwars takes little skill.
That's like... Pokemon. A level 30 pokemon can beat even a level 50 Pokemon if he has attacks that are super effective, and the enemy has only the not very effective attacks, or even attacks that won't make any damage at all.
Yeah, that's a sucky explaination, but Pokemon is one big rock paper scissors.

Using a build only designed to counter another specific build is always a bad idea.
Caster sins are good against most other builds, unlike a mesmer with insidious parasite...

Dual attune airspam?
Really, all it takes to buildwars in 1v1 is experience and knowledge about the game.
You'll know what weaknesses your choice of profession can have and what hemight think and the opposite.
Whether you or your opponent hits right determines the outcome meaning you can't ever get micro skill measurement from differing buildchoices.
You'll only practice foresight and how to not overlook things, which is hardly useful in any other situation.

1 v 1 isn't legitimate, although not necessarily for the reasons presented. It's not legitimate because one class conquers it completely.

You sure? Want to play me 1v1?
@kedde - maybe, but I like to think of foresight as a skill.

In true 1v1's fought by the bravest of warriors, people reroll new PvPs and then both wait in different districts of GToB until their builds are complete. Then they zone into the GH and fight immediately without changing skills. That way, you don't even know your opponent's professions. Fighting with foresight is for the weak.

Then all you've managed to do is turn build wars into paper, scissors, rock, which isn't a major difference. The only 1v1 I have ever bothered with is when I am running the same build as my opponent. Even then it's often down to a bit of luck as to the victor. I swear natty stride hates me.

Sealed deck 1v1 might be fun.
I have done 1v1 with GvG rules before where no one knows the others' builds/professions. Its fun to kill time, but I wouldn't take it seriously.
