I Don't understand the "No Ping" mentality
SO yeah, I know they've always been there, but last night I had to cycle through about 7 people who refused to ping their builds. Now I have to say I don't understand this, the most common excuse is "I don't wanna see it on wiki." But I mean honestly who is gonna take the time to stick their build on pvx just to spite them. In my experience if a build is good its already on wiki in some shape or form.
Furthermore some people get offended when I ask for a ping, like they're the best player in the game or something. I ask for pings for 2 reasons, to make sure the build isn't crap, and to know what my group can do which is very important as a leader.
So yeah was wondering if somebody could explain this to me as it has left me puzzled for some time now.
Thanks

It's because their build is bad, and they know it's bad. They refuse to ping so you won't see its bad, and you won't kick them for being bad, and having a bad build.

i ping, but if they recommend a change and i think the change is bad, then i won't change it.
when someone asks you to ping, they will either accept it, or ask for changes. and imo thats the reason why most people won't ping--they don't want to change their build and theres no point in pinging if they're not going to change it.

It's because they think their build is good, but their their build is bad, and they know it's bad. They refuse to ping so you won't see its bad, and you won't kick them for being bad, and having a bad build.
People seem to have the ludicrous idea that because a build is 'original' its either better than other builds or is less likely to be countered, though that is obviously not true.

a lot of bad players ping bad bars...
and yes, the "original" factor is a valid reason, but not for any of the ones listed. but for the fact that (especially in low-lvl pvp) people can get sick of running meta builds (i honestly don't understand how anyone can stand more than 10mins of playing a mb ele...but thats jus me).

Then why not ping? I've actually heard people say all the reasons I've listed in-game. That makes sense for running a different style of build, but not for not pinging.
also lol @ Zodiac Meteor's pic

This is a PvP forum ...
Anyway @ topic: I'm usually reluctant to ping my build because I don't like being questioned. Still, if someone asks I will ping, and if they tell me they're running some kind of organized build (easy to see from team composition) I'm usually pretty happy to go with what is asked. I will usually ask the person in question to ping his bar as well.
I realize my attitude might be too arrogant for my own good though ... although it's easy to get frustrated after PuGGing a little in AB.

Ohhh! I thought this was in any build topic. Well, note: check where it is before clicking.
Well, that changes everything! /deleting half my posts for not paying attention.

This.
It's annoying, but I won't ab without a guild/friend group anyways, but we don't even bother anymore; we'd rather go try and sync JQ instead anyway.

I don't like to ping. I use builds from pvx does that mean the build is bad? Sometimes I will use my own builds as well, still wont ping. Many people will just kick you because they dont like something. Not a group I want to play with. It's not about being best it's about having fun. Those that ask for pings tend to be pricks. Sorry but thats just how I see it. They want to tell me how to play? F them, there is no right or wrong way to play.

I think you see that wrong then. If a build is from PvX it is generally good and much used because it is good. People want you to ping your build because they want to know what you are doing, to check if it fits the team. If it doesn't, they just ask you to change your build to make it fit in. In a team, there is a right or wrong way.

I usually don't ask for ping because it instantly ruins the friendly mood.
Especially on NM. Everything goes on NM.

This is pure nonsense.
I for one refuse to show my build if someone asks without reason.
To me, it's a show they don't trust me in doing my job, as ranger, warrior, ele, monk, para, whatever else I have.
If I was asked to show my build so we can coordinate skills, or to balance the team, ping, it's there. But just asking for it like that makes me feel I get robbed, and I don't like that.
(Not that I'm an expert guy in making builds, just the feeling I don't like)

I don't pug. I wouldn't ping, even if I did pug. Why? because I couldn't care less what you think about me. personally, I wouldn't be in a group with other people unless A. it's a guild group, or B. I'm helping someone. if B, I'm not going to ping, as I'm there under request for assistance.

So you trust 100% of arrogant random pugs who think they're amazing at the game and therefore don't beleive they should ping their builds?
Didn't think so.
