Need tips for getting off of RA
ive been trying to get off of RA for some time now cause i want to take pvp more seriously, however i can never seem to win the 5 in a row that i need. the most ive won is 4 but we were takin down by a full team of casters. ive tried playing all different roles like melee, casters, healers and all that stuff. currently, the one i have found most success with is a r/w pet hammer build. if anyone has some general strategies or ideas please post them as they are much appreciated. also do you think it would be beneficial this early on to buy the skill unlock packs?

IMHO I think getting 5 streaks in RA is up to luck and there are no real tactics and if you want to start serious PvP go to TA and if you haven't unlocked that just follow think below.
Try this build - http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:E/Me...Distortion_Ele
Just have the enchantments on with distortion and spam the fire skills on people who have lower energy than you. Getting a good team is really luck in RA and I get at least a 10 win whenever I go RA so it's either I'm a pro or I'm lucky...
Find a PvP guild anyway if you want to get more serious and TA/HA/GvG more so you learn more tactics...
PM on Guild Wars Guru if you want more help/advice..

hitting 1 2 3 on your skill bar isnt pro and isnt serious pvp either
ra is the biggest hole of fail
id suggest playing monk, easiest way to get to 5

If you don't have a team get to 5 wins every now and then just by dumb luck alone, it means that you are handicapping every team you're on. Painful but true. Practice more.

i dont think its me thats handicapping the team as i usually end up doing the most damage to the other team, the only thing that i can think of that could possibly hold me back is the build does not have a self heal

Well, you don't need Charm Animal to have a pet with you anymore, so switch that out for something.

It's a good build, but in RA, melee gets pummeled. Bsurgers, anti-melee hexes, stances.
Imo, if you can play a monk good, you can get 5 wins pretty easily. I've gotten 5 wins with a terribad monk.

Run either an E/Me, or if you have any skill interrupting (we're talking consistently hitting 1 second casts - you'll need decent ping/reflexes) take a ranger.
Take something that has good defense.

This really was one of the worst changes Anet ever made to Guild Wars. Just keep pressing enter mission, eventually it will happen. Even if you are a complete liability, as long as you look like you know what you are doing eventually you will five 3 decent team members and fight 5 terrible teams in a row.
The wins to get out of TA are often harder, but thankfully they no longer have to be in a row.
Also join a PvP guild, this will alleviate most of your issues.

- Get really good at pvp.
- Stop running radiants.
- You're never going to win in random arena without a way to remove all the antimelee there, traditional melee builds will simply be hexed into oblivion now. Many people play RA with builds designed to shutdown/grief melee players because they find it sadistically fun, and if you don't adapt to this you'll do badly.
- Expect to lose about half the time until you get a decent monk, this happens once or twice per day and can result in 5-10 wins or more.
- Run empathic removal, I play an axe build with it and it works very very well but takes some skill. Antidote signet is a good start, it helps vs. many things but not hexes.
- Play in international district. This is important.
- See here or how to deal successfully in RA:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10387069
Mostly, it's just up to randomly getting 3 other competent players. If you can get say, you, a monk, a decent ele or necro, and a decent apply ranger or warrior, you can you on a decent streak which makes up for losing half or so otherwise.

Distracting shot
Savage shot
Apply poison
Burning arrow OR magebane
Natural stride
Mend touch
Remove hex
Res sig.
Get good at that build, and you will win 5 in RA pretty easily. Degen is quite powerful in RA since they dont always have a way to remove it, so if your constanly spamming the entire team with apply poison and kite intelligently while rupting their key skills, you can basically lame teams to death.
Also, if your goal is to get 5 and you don't care about actually playing for faction farming the best way is to leave after every fight until you get a Monk on your team, and stick with him. Having a monk on your team, even a mediocre one, will increase your chances by a large margin.

omgosh gief me a GOOD skillbar!!! Why give noobs magebane when people cant play it, random interupts and stuff, thats what i've see in RA lately... Just drop the crap and do the easy ranger builds imo, way to many noobs in RA now days, sad but true.
Barbed arrows + Poison arrow with deb shot, thats an easy bar and effective...Good starter one If you ask me, instead of mage"lol"bane, that requires skill imo.
Remember, degen kills!

~*Guide to Easy-Mode RA*~
1. Take Mind Blast, or a generic Hex bar (VoR/Curse Necro)
2. Mash Buttons
3. ???
4. Profit.
