They never won gold on Trim.

It might be annoying to lose a lot of rating to rawr when they are ranked 500 and not 1, but it isn't like it really matters if you are rank 100 or 300. You can still play in the mAT if you have QP's and that is really all that matters in today's game anyway.

I think the only people who care are the people who farm free keys off the XTH. Which is down now anyway so uh yeah.

It's not me being bitter, it's simply a fact.
Wether or not rawr had ulterior motives for not nerfing R/As I have no idea, fact is you seemed to be the only people that were against nerfing them.

They don't do the balancing, they simply delay it and push it in the 'wrong' direction.
(Examples: Rend Enchantments, R/As, Mantra of Resolve, random buffs, Aegis nerf, etc.)

Rebel Rising, the guild notoriously known for running ridiculous builds (absurdly defensive or broken classes), has 12 gold capes, and is the only guild where every one of its members has access to the Balance Forums.
The guild, led by Chop Chop The Panda, who (on the Balance Forums) insisted that R/A's are not an overpowered class and just needed time to settle in so people could find a counter to it, decides to run three R/A's in the finals of the August Monthly Automated Tournament and add yet another gold cape to his collection.
And people wonder why Guild Wars is in such a poor state. =/

Well tbh, they're the only guild where every one of its members has access because the two other guilds where every member had access (dR and DF) both died.

rawr has a great say in determining skill balances, but I don't think it's fair to completely blame them for the lack of good balance (even though they may contribute to that). But who can blame them? They found a build, and it's human nature that they don't want that build nerfed (especially before they were able to abuse it). Comparing DF to other guilds, they were a lot more in favor of LoD. Similarly, people in dR would be more biased towards tele-dervspike skills.
It's basically a paradox, because the best balancing is achieved by a group without selfish motives or high degrees of bias (or a large enough group that the bias cancels out to some extent, like before). However, to get the most updated and relevant opinions, it is best achieved through people that play in the top tiers of PvP or PvE. I think one thing to control is the degree of bias. As much as we all loved instagib dervspike in dR and wanted to delay its death, I don't think we're ignorant enough to say that it's not OP and people just need time to deal with it. That's what we need today to create "good balance" again.

You give us too much credit; we aren't nearly smart enough to do anything like that.
Truth of the matter is: we didn't even realize R/A's were good until the day of the monthly, and by then we're like "oh... oh snap we better use this."

I must admit, this post does make it appear suspicious.. very suspicious indeed.
Can ppl (in privileged positions) really be so petty, self-serving and bias?
I guess going by Divine's post, the answer is yes.

Damnit Mitch caught us.
THATS why every build rawr runs ends up getting Falcon Punched. Because we control balance. got it.
I'll make sure to add this as a chapter in the rawr novel i'm writing.

So, without having a solid understanding of R/As Polly said that they shouldn't be nerfed immediately?

Changes happened on Aug 6. The build was fairly common within 1-1.5 weeks. In every build within 2 weeks (unless you are honorable!!!) Kind of difficult not to notice that build when every game on observe mode contains multiple rassas.
rawr deserved to win the monthly because every team had the same opportunity to use the broken builds. The stuff about the balance forums is messed up though. I'd expect some of the euro gold capes to have access as well.

I take them going public about balance changes a month in advance as cutting out or at least diminishing the role of the balance forums. In part because half the time someone from there would go public about the upcoming changes anyway.

I'm just glad we all have been blessed with an extra month of R/A's. Everyone will think back on this and laugh that it was all in good fun, the same sort of fun contracting AIDS is.
