RA and SD
Has anyone thought about replacing RA with SD? Or may implementing SD ideas into RA? If so, why or why not? For me, I've always felt that a big part of RA was having luck with team synergies, rather than player skill. SD fixes this by giving each team a set build to play with. In addition, if this is put in, this can also generate a lot more hype for TA, the only form of organized 4v4 left. And hopefully revive the dead arena.
Bottom line is, is there a big difference between bringing your own build into an RA versus setting up a random build (with possibly synergy) for an RA/SD combo?

Random should be random, not predictable set bars. thats what TA and HB are gunna be for.

TA is getting replaced with SD. Replacing RA with SD would be a poor decision, in my opinion, as I always thought of RA as a sandbox arena (a place to experiment with builds and such).
The problem lies in the fact that you can earn a title in RA and now it's an arena that some people take semi-seriously. TA is a dead arena because of this.

You'll get your wish when Anet replaces TA and HB with an arena with sealed decks/set builds. Just wait until they make it happen and RA won't be your problem.

Bad idea. Random Arena should stay as it is..
TA rewards should just be increased, or take less wins to get points.

From a business perspective. Would you remove perhaps the most popular and acessible PvP format from your game? I bet you wouldn't. It's much better to hurt a dozen elite players than to hurt a thousand players, numbers are all that matter really... More players equal more money no matter their quality or skill level.
Besides RA is quite fun, pretty much everyone does it. I wouldn't be surprised if a similar format returns in GW2.

As poor as RA is, it's necessary for a basic introduction to PvP. Things like the Zaishen Challenge and training arenas are no substitution.

What PvP needs more than RA is a large casual arena. I know AB. No not that, its still somewhat organized. I mean a large completely random 12v12 or even 16v16 deathmatch style. Or maybe a push map, cap points, but you must own preceding point to cap next. I know that such an arena will have absolutely nothing competitive about it at all, but its mostly about an easy to access format where one's lack of ability is not a particularly huge liability to the team (1/4 team in RA would be much less in the larger matches).

12v12 might be a bit much, but I appreciate what you're saying. Guild Wars is largely balanced for 8v8.*
AB is cursed by its own shrine capping style. Not only is it very boring, but teams quickly degenerate into who can pound on the NPCs the fastest and actual PvP interaction is almost absent, when it's necessary to force a victory.
*Or so it should be, given most of the content is built around teams of 8.

SD will be a lot like TA anyway. just without the boring, gay, or retarded teambuilds. that's a good thing.
RA should stay the same. or better yet become a 10-20-man-per-instance free-for-all arena with respawns and powerups.

I really think that this would be a good thing. It satisfies the need for an easy pick up and go format while less likely to discourage new players. Face it a brand new player is most likely going to lose a lot of RA matches, not just because its RA, but because they are 1/4th of their team's effort. If they were 1/10th or 1/20th then even players that can't pull their weight won't immediately be discouraged by a string of losses.
Also a fun diversion for veteran players that want something that absolutely isn't competitive and just spam happy.

Oftentimes worse skills seen than what you would use from the decks.

why would they replace one of the most popular forms of pvp in the game? Albeit one of the lower forms of pvp in the game but still more popular than HB and TA combined.
I think it's been years since I can remember TA having more than 1 american district. RA has like...several on a daily basis.
