Not completely original, been done before with ZB and BL, but boon prot with signets got a lot stronger.

It's a boonprot, but hasn't got energy management.
I'm actually curious to see if boonprot comes back with the recent buff, I imagine the Melandru's Resilience boonprot in ab will be happy.

I thought I was the business. Owning Sins because they couldn't hit me, tanking against warriors even though my arrows bounced and snapped off of their armour.
All was well before I realized that my 'epic -14 degen' was actually only 10, and that interupts are part of a ranger's job. Of course that was back when I was young and care-free. I miss those days. Of course now I own n00bz with my level 6 Rainbow Phoenix...^_^

It has divine spirit and signets (free) for your IMS and defense. Compared to a shadow arts WoH monk it compares favorably on energy, WoH doesn't have any inherent e-management other than a monster heal. A resilience boon prot might work too but since it's a stance you won't have access to any IMS's other than shouts (battle cry, fallback etc.). I think resilience would be much better for random arenas.
@GuLLinda: LS (and RoF) perform best against damage that comes in large chunks, which is all the mind blast bar does.

Wanted to fully take advantage of the newly buffed skill Illusion of Pain.
Me/A:12+1+1 illusion, 6+1 Fast Casting, 9+1 Inspiration, 4 Shadow Arts, 4 Deadly
Illusion of Pain
Ethreal Burden
Phantom Pain
Drain Delusions
Assassin's Promise
Ether Feast
Dark Escape
Illusion of Haste
Usage:
-Capping: Cast and Maintain IoP on target. follow up with phantom pain. Drain Delusions on Phantom Pain to inflict deep wound. (Dont forget to recast IoP!) When they are at 50% or less hp, Throw assassin's promise on them.
-Side notes: Ethreal Burden can be drained for a 37 energy gain, however it is mainly to snare. You can constantly maintain Dark Escape with Assassin's Promise as long as you kill.
I have yet to loose a match with this build.
Try it out! Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Instead Assassin's Promise i woould take Glimmering Mark, also Dark Escape -> Distortion ,
Ether Feast-> gole. In a balanced group capping a shrine is not your main job, you`re just helping.

To each his own.
I've been running this with pugs, so the renewing ether feast/dark escape was probably more useful to me than it would be to another.
Also, glimmering mark is a common alternative, but i find that in AB i've gotten the most out of Assassin's Promise.

The point is to run away from pugs and to play with balanced groups.
The idea from pvxwiki was just my opininion , of course everybody plays in his way

Well did alliance battles for the first time ever last night came with a standard Mesmer bar then about 30 seconds into the match I new I made a mistake bringing the skills I did. So I dusted off this old one I had from RA and it seemed to work ok.
[shadow fang] [iron palm][dancing daggers][entangling asp][signet of toxic shock][Signet of Midnight][ether feast] [optional] (Mesmer hex or deadly arts skill dash whatever)
Can carry staff for energy and it really does not matter if you are blind or not.
Real easy select target shadow fang in iron palm daggers asp shock you pop back and hit with daggers again. Signet of midnight for melee that target you.
