Does water magic have a chance in Alliance battles?
Does water magic have a chance in Alliance battles?
I have been running the below build and have been holding my own. Overall people do not like water and it is odd to see a full bar dedicated to it. I have to ask does water have a place here?
[shatterstone] [Malestrom] [glyph of lesser energy] [glowing ice] [Deep freeze] [Blurred vision] [Armor of mist] [heal of choice]

You'd be surprised how useful tenai's prison can be in AB where hex removal is non existant.
But drop maelstrom...it's gimmicky at best.

Water Magic Eles/Mesmers can be very useful in AB.
I sometimes run:
12 Water Magic
10+1+1 Fast Casting
8+1 Inspiration Magic
Water Trident/Mind Freeze (E)
Shard Storm
Freezing Gust
Blurred Vision
Auspicious Incantation
Maelstrom/Deep Freeze
Water Attunement
Armor of Mist/Illusion of Haste
Keep Water Attunement up at all times. Use Freezing Gust and Shard Storm on targets. If you took Mind Freeze use it in conjunction with Maelstrom to bring enemy casters to a standstill. If you brought Deep Freeze use it to snare large groups or minion masters. Use Auspicious Incantation before the 25e spells to refill your bar. Grief meleers with Water Trident and Blurred Vision.

I will admit it works like horse crap on warrior shrine. But the NPC casters sit in it

Most people that play AB are only thinking "CAP CAP CAP CAP CAP" so if you're an ele, they expect Fire. AKA don't PUG with water.
Now then, if you're actually in a coordinated group that realizes that fighting and/or slowing down enemy teams actually has a purpose, then Water works wonders.

actually maelstorm is probably the only reason i would run a water ele in ab. you're capping most of the time and npc casters won't be able to get a spell off.

Water ele is absolutely vicious in AB, if you use it I will gank your top50 guild out of halls the day before as preemptive revenge.
Unless you're a Luxon, that is.
Also that build you posted is a bit bad.

a water ele will typically take the same spot as the cripshot, but with a stronger focus on team support and damage. the cripshot is more of a disruption/shutdown/jackofalltrades role.

You can still easily fill the nuker roll as water, I do it all the time all you need is maelstrom. I would opt for Mirror of Ice over Shatterstone as it provides way more damage.

Like a Necro with MoP, a Frosty with Maelstrom would take the nuker slot on my team also.
