Help to a ranger.
Hello guys I am pretty new to pvp just got 11k faction so far and my build s***s (
Can you please suggest a good ranger build for pvp with only prophecies skills? I am so far only doing random arenas. I don't have all the skills unlocked yet but I'm gonna use the faction points. Btw I use troll unguent in pvp and someone said that only nubs use something like that so yeah. I am pretty new to the game and really need some help.
Thank you for helping me.
P.S. I am ranger/monk, and also can you tell me how to do that "I am attacking xyxyxy" thingie?

hello there. [sidenote: I'm from romania as well]
point #1: you can always change your secondary profession to another one rather than monk [you need to pass a prophecies mission in the desert first], but r/mo's can play RA effectively.
point #2: you should have antidote signet, melandru's arrows, since you can't use melandru's shot, pin down, maybe an increased attack speed stance? [lightning reflexes] Other than that, I've never been good at making builds based on skills from only 1 campaign, and I really don't have the time to go through the skill list at the moment.
If you wanna consider changing secondary to mesmer, I'd definetly propose blackout.

Generic templates for Rangers with bows in PvP are usually:
[build prof=range/monk expert=12+1+1 wilder=9+1 marksm=9+1 protec=3][optional][optional][Savage Shot][Distracting Shot][Apply Poison][Mending Touch][Natural Stride][Resurrection Signet][/build]
But since you don't have Nightfall, I guess [[Lightning Reflexes] or [[Whirling Defense] can replace [[Natural Stride] and [[Antidote Signet] can replace [[Mending Touch].
First optional is elite:
- [[Incendiary Arrows]
- [[Crippling Shot]
Second optional is utility:
- [[Debilitating Shot]
- [[Pin Down]
- [[Point Blank Shot]
There's a good guide for it on PvXwiki although I don't know how much it can help you since it includes skills from all campaigns:

Unless you are happy playing nothing more than RA, you will need to purchase nightfall at least to gain access to mending touch and natural stride. You could also purchase factions to unlock a glass arrows build, but as that should be getting nerfed soon, so I don't see the point. However, this update is already several months overdue, so perhaps you may get your moneys worth.
Also, don't take notice of people who call you out in RA. The majority of people who do this are mediocre at best and have a less than competent grasp of the game.

The biggest mistake people also make, and prevents them from getting better: Using the wrong bow type.
There is 1 bow type you need: Poisonous Recurve bow.
Make sure you spread that poison to everyone in the party by tab-spacing, that way you can deal big pressure while learning how to play.
Start off by interrupting mesmers, necros, watch for 1-2 second casts, you can easily interrupt those.
Learn the recharges of common spammable spells like blinding surge, count recharge, fire rupt. People in RA call this "random", but it's predicting.

This is pretty big right here.
I also have a crippling recurve and longbow for when I use pindown in AB.

also, carry a 15^50 and a +5e bow, depending on your build you might also want to carry a crippling bow, though it isn't all that useful in RA

i figured saying "There is 1 bow type you need: Poisonous Recurve bow. " might be a bit vague when speaking to someone new to playing ranger when weapon swapping isn't exactly common sense.

Sure, but my point is just that you need a recurve bow as a main bow.
Depending on your build and gametype you obviously adjust.

Sure it might've been vague, but your wording was even more confusing.

Cripshot is actually very useful in the Arenas.
Stop melle pressuring your squishys, Getting out of harms way, stop spellcasters running from your melee. And a nice unblockable shot to finish off anyone haiding behind a stance.
I use it often.

Except that 99,99% of RAers don't kite.

True.
Shouting at spellcasters to move when they're getting melee pressure can get tedious.

But true enough, cripple is a very stong condition, even more so in arenas that favor movement like GvG or AB.
