Playing Codex Arena without friends is like playing Mario Kart without friends, it might be fun the first time, but in the end you're just going to be pissed off because someone got a better build / item.

Your analogies amaze me, sir.

I am posting my suggestions (not complains) here for ArenaNet to read it, not you.

Well, I don't see how the FIFA can randomly assigning me other players to make a full team, or give to me some robots to play with me.

Codex Arena doesn't include any singleplayer mode, like Mario Kart.

Now, replacing Hero Battles with this? Please tell me your freaking joking? This has nothing to do with Hero Battles. It feels like you've just deleted TA and HB and replaced it with another TA.
ANet, why do you continue to fail so badly? I mean for the past two years, you've made Hero Battle players believe that there will be a fix. Instead, you decided to just delete the format altogether for no reason.
Codex Arena == Team Arena
Hero Battles = DeleteD for no reason.
Oh, and ANet, if you actually paid attention to your game, you would of realized that Hero Battles was actually going quite well in the last month until you deleted it. In the years at the top of the ranks playing Hero Battles, I have never seen so many different builds being played! Mesmers, Rits, Earth Eles ... so many. The only problem, was dual meld... but big deal, barely anyone played that.
I really think that Codex Arena should of been a replacement for Team Arena... well to be honest, it seems that way... you just felt like removing Hero Battles too.
There was no need to delete Hero Battles. I think I had more fun in the last month of Hero Battles than I have in the past 1-2 years and I wasn't the only one that thought this.
BRING BACK HERO BATTLES
|
While I agree with you that HB should never have been deleted one part of what you said stuck out to me.

The only reason it went 'quite well' in the past month was because they announced the removal of hero battles. With that came the urge for people to farm their titles before it was removed.
The last great flux of people was due to HB being removed, had it never been announced it would have still been zzz.

Codex Arena is quite fun, but it would be a lot more fun if VoR and EDA weren't in every single deck..

Codex is an excuse for pve players to run their own utterly lame builds and not get flamed for it......

Well if the skills are chosen completely randomly we'll see some better decks, the chance of VoR and EDA being picked 3 days in a row aren't that high.
I don't really care much which skills are in the codex but skills like VoR and EDA are so defining of the daily meta as they are very powerful.

Probability 101: they are much higher if you happen to know they have already been picked up two days.

Mitch: The chance of VoR being picked 3 days in a row isn't that high. EDA comes up once every 3 days on average, which is probably my major complaint with this format (Assuming they don't weight it so other derv elites show up more commonly). But In my opinion, it's a big one. EDA-dominated metas are incredibly boring, and I personally think this skill needs a change to be only melee attacks.

Thanks for that intelligent post. I mean c'mon, I should be forced to play a game with strangers! I don't play Guild Wars to spend my time trying to play e-social. I come to play a relaxed game.
Your analogies fail my good sir.
(BTW, I'm not complaining I can't play Codex because I have no e-friends. I could really care less about Codex because it's going to turn into TA v2 with a non-stale meta)

It's an online game. If you expect to easily play organized PvP when you refuse to join a guild and refuse to socialize with people, then organized PvP isn't for you (not you directly).

Yeah, I get what you mean. That's why I'd support a RA format of Codex, everyone would be happy.

People whining about "being forced to team" are...im sorry...retarded. As Kaon said...you might as well go onto a football field and whine that you can't play by yourself. If you don't want to find anybody to play with, don't whine. Either fine people to play with or get the hell off the football field.
If you want a RA version of Codex that is fine (even though I disagree with it), but don't whine that having to team in a team based game is somehow a problem.

No shit, but still the chance of VoR being in the deck again tomorrow aren't that big, for EDA it's a bit different as Dervishes simply don't have as many (elite) skills as prophecy and factions professions.
I don't think it should be changed yet but I'd keep a close eye on EDA and if and how it 'dictates' 'the meta' in CA, if it proves to be too infuential I'd fully support a nerf to this in the next skill update.

Yes, it takes forever to get a group if you sit there spamming g2lfg.
If you take take some flipping initiative and actually invite a bunch of characters together to make a team it'll happen in 5 min or less.
Grouping in CA has been very easy for me. Maybe it's because I'm proactive about it, or maybe it's because I'm awesome in general, but it's certainly not because I'm waiting to get picked.

Except the guy always being paired with bad players. People need the option to choose their own parties.

Well my impressions... Im disappointed. It's just TA 2.0. Nice 'redesign' of HB outpost, if they just copied it and put CA in name. Maps are the same, rank hate is the same, everything is the same. I expected something more. I can't believe, that this took them so long. They only created a system, and put it in the TA/HB remains. + bad title, because it won't work for Codex Arena. A random codex arena, as many said before, would be a lot better. Mainly because:

Which means, this arena is not for casual players.

Completely right!
That being said, I wouldn't oppose ANet adding in a random CA format along with the current one.
