It was sorta fun. Problem with CA is the same as with TA: after a few wins you've faced all the builds you'll see for the coming hours. Gets pretty tedious rather quickly.

Yes, 3-month meta vs. 1-day "meta". Clearly just the same.

Great arena. Finally a major pvp update.
I like the no same profession rule. Apply it to skills as well perhaps..?
The daily rotation is ok I guess (one week would have been way too boring), although a meta forms within hours I think. If the rotation is automatic, a 23h cycle would be better (instead of the current 24): depending on time zone some ppl may get to play only "the meta" and won't have a chance to make new builds (on his level).

Rank discrimination is not a "fault". You ever wondered why there is A-league and B-league in soccer? Or why a grandmaster is not going to offer you a chess party? Anet's role here is to provide a mechanism to control the separation (even if it is not that great): rank.

Does this matter on a few hours run? No it doesn't.

The RPG Codex loves it. Thinks that it finally is a good moment ANet paid tribute to them.

Eles will have it pretty hard with this, but assassin primaries will almost never be viable. Yesterdays sins were laughably ignorable. The class revolves around multiple specific skill interactions in one bar.
For example, palm strike, and for that matter every lead attack skip, is crap without both kds and fallings in the bar.
My general impression from monking vs sins yesterday, and thinking about the various sin builds we have seen over the years, is that assassins who can't perform 2 dual attacks within 2 seconds are simply not viable, with very very few exceptions. The skills that make that possible are actually very few in number and you need multiples of them on one bar to make it all work, something that you just won't see often with a random selection of 20 skills spread through four attributes.

I can see this from both sides. One of my guildies left yesterday so we picked up a derv who was great. He adapted his bar to the teams bars immediately after our first round.
Then the other two guildies left and we decided to play another round. At his suggestion we picked up a blind mes and ss nec. We did ok but the necs bar was ridiculous. His first draft had gaze from beyond and no spirits. Second time round he kept some channelling spells but had like 8 in channeling. We could have dropped his whole bar for ss/sig/meteor and done better.
So while I'm not amazing, I can see how there are people out there who are simply unable to understand the game and would ideally like to avoid teaming with them.
However I can see the other side too. I am r0/g2. I've been playing 3-4 years, but simply haven't spent enough time to achieve higher ranks, and don't get involved enough to join a more serious guild that does 8v8. I began playing just when groups had begun looking for r9s in HA, although r3 was more normal, either way pugging it was never an option for me.
So, whatever the circumstances behind it, as r0/g2 I am being lumped in with guys running gaze from beyond on their spiritless necros and being forced to run with alliance groups only. That's not necessarily bad as it helps me discover who the better players are among them, but it does make for some uncomfortable moments when you really just need to tell a guildie that you don't really want to go arena with his no interrupt no conditions bow ranger.
Funnily enough part of the charm of GW over other mmos for me is the ability to pvp without huge time investment, something that the rank system detracts from.

Except Chess is ranked on an ELO system similar to GvG or HB... not like a cumulative point system like RA/TA/CA.
If the A league soccer team has won 1,000 games just because they play 10,000 games, it doesn't mean they are good compared to the B league team that has won 20 games and played 25.

I feel sick, people is already making META builds in Codex Arena; teams are already refusing to play with me, if I don't use the build they give to me, even when I can make mine (I am glad 6). Also, if that is not enough, for now they are looking for other PvP titles to allow you in a good team, but in the near future I bet the requirement will be the Codex title, and even if you have the best PvP titles, you won't be accepted.
For this new arena I was expecting fixed builds, that means, one single build by profession (like the Costume one), was a good surprise being able to chose the skills, but I didn't expected elitism to appear in this arena so fast.
I don't like that. I only see two solutions to avoid meta and elitism: One single build per profession, or make the place random (like RA).
This place was supposed to be fun, not a mini-HA with limited team size and skills, with a daily meta (my God!).

Okay...and this isn't like TA how?
Find best team build for the day, using your 'creative' ability to tab.
Use it for 23 hours.
Repeat
???
Profit!

I absolutely hate it, because you got no control over what to take. Codex=random skills, AB = random teams, RA = random players. Anet effectively killed organised PvP for people that actually have a life.
It's all out of your hands what you play, and c'mon, Eles without attunement, this is imba as well, only difference is that every day something else is imba now.
And then TA, I mean, some people still like to play it, why remove it alltogether? Can't tings just co-exist?
I don't even dislike sealed deck that much, but at least allow people to make builds that actually make SENSE lol.
I played today with a warrior without any form of disruption, KD and NO BULLS, this means you're chasing after your own ass all the time because people just kite and that's it. Try and frenzy for a second when your monk doesn't have guardian ><, while your only cancel stance is dash, byebye energy.
The lame crap is eliminated, agreed, but the interesting crap died with it. I personally just can't help feeling totally gimped every time I play CA, OK, so I'm a wiki bar junkie, but there was nothing wrong with good warrior templates.

reading this forum, there only has been two valid points critizism about this arena (and only one applies to this arena):
* the fact that it is team based is a valid concern in my eyes, even then i havent had any problems getting in to grps (i only have deadly hero (4) , no glad rank.), i agree a random codex arena would have been the perfect format for me.
* and rank discrimination, this is something that, again, is a reaction from the community, not something anet intended.
i think both the codex title and glad title should be reworked to something more like HA's rank title, it would be easier for people to reach ranks and show personal experience in a more accurate way.
other than that, the rest are complaining for the sake of complaining, this is exactly what sealed deck is, theres no way around it, you dont like it? fine it's your opinion, but the format is good, very good, actuallly.

The point of sealed deck is for you to make do with what you have. You are not going to have your toolbox essentials with you, so you'll have to work around it.
This is where SKILL comes into play, not to throw the same template on and go shovespike again.
Although I do agree the title advancement is a bit extreme..

Some people say that it becomes boring after a few games because you've seen all the builds. This might be true but the same is true for every single other format in the game. Only this time you can have a different experience every day.
Anyone that complains about the skills being bad is a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing retard. The opponent has exactly the same problem! So what if paragon is completely useless today, play something else and perhaps it will be the shit tomorrow! This is guild wars! You can make PvP characters with maximum level and equipment. Unlike any other mmorpg in the world we don't have to stick to 1 profession.
To all the pvers complaining about pugs: Play with your friends, with your guild. Form a team, think about 10 minutes about proper builds and start playing. Entire guild wars is a cooperative game, why play that with random people instead of friends? Don't have friends? Well then you have to join pugs and the moment you find a good one put your teammates on your friendlist and play with them more often.

In the end, Codex is the exact same thing as TA except all the available builds are terrible and boring, instead of just cookiecutter. Sure, the meta changes every day but essentially it ends up being Costume Brawl Jr (except worse) and nothing whatsoever has been improved or solved.
