On that note, when does Costume Brawl open?

Mapped out. Same reason I stopped playing TA/HA. Never got the high title ranks even though I was/am capable of playing at that level.

Codex is terrible and a huge waste of Anet's manpower. I never thought I'd say this, but I miss TA and HB.
At least TA was a fun diversion while waiting for people to show up for GVG/HA, while Codex ripped out whatever good parts TA had and kept all the bad parts.

I decided to be nice and do no rank groups. Helped out a few people here and there, but honestly it's not worth the effort. For the 1 in 100 people who aren't ranked/don't show their rank that are actually good, 99 of them fail. It's painful to watch them, especially in a format like this where they can't go copy paste bars of wiki. They actually need to understand the game. And then they just c spacebar onto something and hope for the best.
The worst is that very few of them are willing to learn. Either they ignore you or even flame back at you, and thats where I draw the line.
I'll stick to ranked groups from now on, if this arena can stay alive.

You did a good job Anet
I actually liked Sealed Deck so much, it deserves a thread here. For once, Anet delivered a perfect update, that delivered in on every expectation I, and most other people, had.
Aside from 1-2 minor annoyances (We should be able to see a skill list of the day somewhere), this format is perfect.
Good Job Anet!

this is how i (wishful thinking) hoped the arena itself would work. new deck each match, not this daily meta nonsense!

skill changes everyday will keep it from getting stagnant.
will be easily dominated by high end pvp'ers with higher skill lvls.

Can we make it so 10 wins in RA you get sent to Codex? It would be funny to see RA teams farming the Codex teams.
My impression so far is I dont like the name

Oh yeah, no doubt. I don't disagree with the rank req, but I won't be joining a PvP guild anytime soon, so obviously PuG'ing a decent group in codex is out of the question (for me).

Gotta be honest, i didnt spend much time in CA, but it was more frustration than it was worth. I like the creative aspects of it, but pugs are pugs regardless of situation whether it be pve or pvp. imo i think they need to make sure that characters cannot enter unless they have acceptable skills on their bar to limit stupid mistakes that will screw up a team. Also i think it might be better to run a situation like Costume Brawl; where it gives you a bar and you have to learn how to use it for a day, or perhaps gives you three bars and you get to pick one that way you have multiple builds instead of the flavor of the day syndrome that seems to be taking hold there, and gives you more than one viable option for a build each day (which is really how i saw it). I also think it might be better to make the teams random as opposed to being able to pick and choose. I know its still new, but im sure people will figure out whats strong each day and refuse to go with anything but that set group, especially the hard core pvp'ers and title grinders. Isn't this why A-Net added dishonorable in RA in the first place? Cause people wouldnt stick around with anything that was less than ideal? Dont get me wrong, I like the sealed deck situation, but i think it needs more tinkering before im sold on the idea.

Yes. Why not make it like HA?
1 pt, then 2, etc...
Once the novelty wears off we'll see how many players remain in this place.

Yes SD is TA all over but with limited skills which makes people run builds more like what you would see RA noobs running. They removed HB completly and just put TA back in, it is stupid. I used to HB alot cuz i could chill in the arena setting up my heros or just chatting and then when i got bored of that i could do a couple matches. Now i have to form a team all over again and have to put up with people raging after 1 lose. Could Anet really make this game any worse????

If you're going to give us an elite in the attribute, give us at least some incentive to take it.
I'll take HB over this, sorry anet, you failed in my eyes, at least on the skills in the first day, but i'm betting other skill choices will be similar.
|
Its Anet.....did you really expect them to give you skills that would work? They made every proffession weak as hell cept the Derv and Necro and from what i saw yesterday ore thn halfs of the teams were running Derv and Necro. They made this to avoid meta builds....well idk it seems this only made it easier to make a meta build and farms wins with it. Good Job Anet you remade TA all over again.

I think for codex to become successful, they will really need to go through some of the old skills that basically don't work anymore (smiters boon etc), and either change them or simply remove them from the rotation.
We also need an easy way to view all the skills available for that day so we can more easily decide which profession to bring. I was pretty disappointed that the amount of skills was so very small, I expected small but hoped there would be enough so we don't just have 1 or 2 possible builds for each profession for the entire day, seems like this will make things even less interesting. These are my first impressions, but I suppose only time will tell.
EDIT: yay another title that requires consecutive wins, because gladiator was really successful because of that... (note the sarcasm)

there needs to be a way to see all the usable skills in one window, and a RA style codex arena. other than these two points, CA works very well. i've been having fun with a price of pride+power leech+enduring toxin build. it screws up the glimmer monks big time. price of pride forces glimmer monks to use orison, in which cause power leech screws them also. i suppose arcane languor would work better for this purpose, but hey, i'm just having fun here.
