It's new, it's fun so far. I joined one fight before going to bed, and it was interesting. The playing style is probably you make your first build up and perform optimizations over the next fights. Perhaps forums and forum threads will be made with the best builds-of-the-day.
You can currently take 5 fire spells but no fire or elemental attunement. That's a challenge, not something you should complain about. If you don't like such challenges, if you cannot live without "perfect" builds, Codex Arena is probably not for you.

Its fun as shit when your group doesnt give a damn. My two issues:
1. Premade teams: Descrimination. Gotta be willing to make your own if your gonna do something funny.
2. Rank Descrimination: "R6 Glad lf..." WTF? Already? that bit pissed me off because I can already see whats gonna happen to people who dont get rank now. Granted(this is the bright side) it is an arena alot less stressful than HA or GvG so it might not be so much a deal-breaker as being behind in HA rank, but for god effin sakes is there anywhere people can be without a goddamn "Horny Gladiator(24)" title making the difference?
Anyway back to the fun!(nerf sf....)

Its all about being creative with random given skills. Dont cry because the skills you were given don't have synergy. They're random, its doubtful they were mean't to have synergy. Also shovespike has pretty cool synergy why don't we just use that, oh wait everyone QQed about it.

Not everyone on the internet that has an opinion that differs from yours is "crying." The topic is "your impressions," and mine are that I don't very much like it.

QQing?
Have you even looked at all the professions skills? I expected a pool of skills I could pick to make a balanced build.
Monk skills, only heal skills are 1/4 cast, Oh, there's healer's boon, holy haste, vigorous spirit..and glimmer of light.
I don't care if those skills are here, I can play with glimmer, but putting healer's boon and haste down without and healing skills? No one wants that.
Axe skills on a warrior
Decapitate and axe twist. Can't use twist without some source of DW, and you can't use it without DW, which comes from decapitate, which kills adren.
I can understanding not having axe skills for a day, but taking up other elites that could be used?
I don't care if the sets are randomly generated, but having 20 random skills and 5 random elites is horribad, you need to have some synergy. Animate flesh golem should never be in this.
I personally had way more fun trying to master microing skills and tactics in HB than this. And in TA I enjoyed trying to counter the spike meta, but this with pre-formed groups is atrocious.

Seriously, the fact that people are asking for your gladiator ranks at this point proves just how retarded some players are. In what possible way could your gladiator, commander, hero or champion titles prove that you are better than anyone else around you at a brand new form of PvP? I'm just glad there are still sane people around who form groups because they want to play, not rank discriminate all day.
But seriously, asking for ranks of a different title is like hiring someone to be your lawyer because they have a biology degree.

then maybe you shouldn't run a warrior today. the great thing with sealed deck in this form, is that we can abandon everything we know about GW's offense/defense structure and just go with what's effective for a particular day. maybe caster offense is strong one day, the next day ranger, and the next day melee, etc.

TBH I haven't tried out Codex yet so I wouldn't know about the skill draws, but if they're that bad I suppose you can tell anet to give more synergy or just suck it up and play.

Did you happen to notice that "Codex Arena" is TA with a different skillset?

The vast majority of skills needed for "successful" TA will most likely be gone on any given day, so CA will require its own set of tactics. Just because it uses the same maps doesn't mean CA is the same game as TA.
Edit: aaaaaand ninja'ed. Ah well.

Keep in mind... when Alliance Battles was first introduced... people were spamming "R6 Hero LFG" I'm sure that will die down as this continues to be popular.
That quickly died though. So far, I'm liking it a lot. It is a nice in-between random arenas and organized PvP. Just competitive enough to require some planning, not so bad that it is full of dbs and rank discriminators.
Edit: Your skill bar may be subpar... but EVERYBODY'S skill bar will be subpar... so it won't matter. If you REALLY have a problem with the skills on a particular day... wait 24 hours and you'll get new ones to criticize

They said they will introduce that if SD proves to be popular.
(And the ATs for this WILL be interesting...)

Could you elaborate on which bugs?
That makes it easier for us to reproduce and fix them.
We are aware of the issue with using Zcoins for rewards, and the Priest of Balthasar issue has been fixed.
Please send me a PN with any other bug that you encountered.

Skills on your skillbar, yes. Player skill, no.
Then again, it may be the case that all the title-requiring pugs are awful anyway.

Enough about the rank discrimination already... The issue has been beaten to death already in every other PvP (and many PvE) formats. Finding 3 other people is not difficult to do for many people and is much better than getting 7 others for HA.
And I'm loving the skillset decisions. If Water Magic has bad skills, stop trying to make a water bar! The classes should be changing every day, which is exactly what you want to see in a sealed deck arena.
