Lets take a look.
TA Balanced :
Ranger : Pressure, Some spike damage, Interupts
Necro : Hexes
Warrior : Damage
Monk : Defensive
Has a little bit of everything doesnt it?
The GvG Balanced Pre update :
War Axe (Damage)
War Hammer (utility from kd/damage)
Ranger (pressure, small damage, interupts)
MOI Ele (Utility from snares, hexes, with some spike damage)
Dom mes ( hexes,Shutdown)
Mo (Defensive)
Mo (defensive)
RT (Defensive)
Has a little bit of everything now doesn't it hence the name "balanced".
If you cannot see how the builds that we call balanced, are actually balanced by definition your missing something.
|
there are/have been a ton of builds that have just as much if not more of a "little bit of everything" and they've never been called balanced.
there are balanced builds that are rarely referred to as "balanced", and there is a build called "balanced". the discussion is on the latter in this case.

By your definition, rawrspike and dual ranger would both be balanced.

Has it occurred to anyone that a term whose definition no-one can agree upon is useless as a description? Maybe we should assess builds on their honor content instead.
Dom mesmer? Clearly improves your honor quotient.
Primal Warriors? Lacks honor.
Eviscerate? Honorable.
4 eles in your midline? Have you no shame?
GvG with less than 2 Warriors? Dishonorable.
Charge+Sword Warrior? Legendary honor.

2 Warriors, Condition Ranger, Dom Mesmer, X, 2 Monks, Runner is balanced.
Atm that includes the Me/Mo smiter variant, Paragon variant and defensive Ele variant.

A numerical honor scale for builds is the single most amazing idea I've ever heard on this forum.

Mitch, I think its more like...
2 Warriors, Condition Ranger, X, X, 2 Monks, Runne
From what i've seen most teams running the me/mo do not run dom.
looks more like
2 Warriors, Condition Ranger, Para, Me/Mo, 2 Monks, Runner
If they run me/mo

any build that has a character in it that has any skills in the smiting prayers attribute line is not balanced nor honorable

When will it ever occur to you that 'balance' is not a build.
It defines a mode in the middle of two extremes, usually being split or heavy pressure/spike (8v8).
The whole point of playing balanced used to be that if you cant win in 8v8, you have the option to split.
If someone is splitting on you, you have enough rescources to kill their flag team and control the flagstand and/or counter splitting (while defending your own base).
Obviously this has nothing to do with builds and can be accomplished in endless different variations.
Over the years the domination mesmer has been a key character to make this build work as good as it does, but in no way does it mean you need a mesmer in a balanced team.

So wait, this guy starts playing recently, an update happens and all the sudden the game isn't balanced anymore? Hasn't the game been unbalanced as hell since DF's 'honor' build was ruined by the LoD nerf? Hell, a lot of people even think that build/ meta was unbalanced.
The game has been about overpowered explosive spike builds for like 2 or 3 years now with everything else taking a back seat minus that Lingering Curse fiasco. The conclusion to this argument was figured out like 3 years ago, there is no balance or honor because everyone plays to win and not solely for fun. And can you blame them?

I don't really understand this thread. This is a pretty decent meta in my opinion, there are a wide variety of builds and pretty much every play style is viable. Variable balanced builds, split, condition/ hex pressures and spike builds. There is no dominant overpowering build and dom mesmers are definitely viable.
I hope every balance update improves the game as much as this last one did.

Now that the meta is settling, dom now seems viable.
Removing the moi kinda makes it a different game for the mesmer though, and you see alot of shitters like the me/e fc snare, and the memo.
Now its more about pbing woh or rc.

Like I said. Started recently. When talking about GvG meta experiences, the only playing experience that matters is GvG experience. You have a month under your belt. That means you started recently.

Its possible to pleak the fast cast lod. Ive done it. With the attribs being spread alot, the fast cast isnt so high on that mes like 8-10.
With all the signets on the bar (one giving back energy) though and the mes only have 3 or 4 spells, its not really worth pleaking this mes imo. He should have high energy most of the match reguardless of the pleak. I think pleaking the woh monk is more beneficial. And if your just trying to make this mes low on energy just interupt the judges enchantment, its way easier to hit, and itl reduce some damage for your team.

In a way, yes, it seemed more like pbing the water ele with an occasional pblock on the prot.
Now that I think about it I do remember Pblocking aegis was what they wanted me to do about two years ago. With my 02 computer even that sometimes was hard to hit though (as a 2 second). Which Is why I just started gvg. It was either dom mes or nothing for me.

It's possible to twitch it, in practice however ping usually doesn't allow for this to happen consistently.

Even if it's allegedly possible to twitch it consistently, why are you running PLeak instead of Power Lock?
