Default HB Infuse

Just out of curiosity, what do YOU run as the optional slot on an HB Infuse bar? Why?

Personally, I love power drain for the decent energy return, versatility, and difficulty to shut down that it offers. Recently though, I find that almost every other monk I've played with is running Auspicious. Some of the higher ranked monks I've ran with say that they don't like running it because of the ease of the risk involved and because it feels "nubbish," but go with it anyways because it offers the best returns, and the ability to drop into high set and pump multiple heal parties can win games. Of course, there's also the options which have fallen out of favour more such as Mantra of Flames and Heal Seed for the real pros.

What are your thoughts on this?

I always run power drain too. I like to think of the way I use the skill as active defense (as opposed to passive defense), in that I will usually rupt damage/shutdown and at the same time be playing defensive.

Leech sig is a viable skill now although I still prefer pdrain for the better energy gain (can easily be 15+ energy with channelling) and the ability to have HSR on the skill. Sure you can rupt more skills with leech sig but that isn't really my job as infuse to rupt dpact, soc through aegis etc.

There was one period where I used auspicious a while back, but then I realised how bad a skill it is when there are a million rips and plenty of rupts. I like playing against infusers that take auspicious since I will actively look to rupt their auspicious or heal party if I'm not taking much pressure. Also, once an auspicious monk has depleted all energy there is almost no coming back except in certain situations e.g. priest/time/dpact res, dying on a low set, opposing team takes a lot more pressure and plays defensive etc.

It depends for me if the other monk is Rc or Ls. Pdrain for offensive defense if ls, but for Rc, I bring [[Draw Conditions]. And instead of the [[Cure Hex] that I see every other monk carry, I like to use [[Spotless Mind] and just have the Prot keep [[Holy Veil] on me.

I would never use [[Auspicious Incantation] because it comes from experience that I know it makes you easy to interrupt. I run a super lame build that involves Assault Sins constantly targeting the backline along with a lot of hexes and a fire ele. Not having [[Healer's Boon] or [[Channeling] up, the bad monks with Auspicious use that and then try to [[Heal Party]. And then any bad sin can use [[Exhausting Assault] on the 2 second cast. But for the good monks that use Pdrain, they get their energy back and can keep on healing.

A lot can go wrong with auspicious but the reward is high, a free heal party and energy. It's something to use when it's relatively safe or with aegis, not when you're low and in trouble.

I've always liked pdrain: like Destiny, I think of it more as an active defensive ability and use it to interrupt stuff that would otherwise be problematic, though it can also stop heals for assisting in a kill.
