OP Mesmer skills
Hey.
Recently noticed that after the mesmer PvE and PvP buff, Mesmers have become rediculously over-powered in PvP.
This just boggles my mind. I mean mesmers have always been the best at shutdown/interrupting/damage-reversal, but now they seem to be able to shut you down and do very large amounts of damage at the same time.
Primary example is Visions of Regret combined with Wastrel Spells. Before the buff this was quite a strong combo, but now it's even stronger.
Also, due to the cheap cost and recharge of wasterl's demise, it can be used as a really good cover hex.
To be honest, my main issue is with the skill Wastrel's Demise. It's madly OP, and forces damage somehow, wether via doing nothing, or doing something, which would come from backfire or something similar.
I know that JQ is considered low-end pvp, but there also this skill is causing problems. I have been in teams recently with 3 mesmers running almost exactly the same build, focused on punishment for skill usage and not (wastrel spells). Ignoring the other skills, wastrel's demise can be used to kill carriers and cap gaurd posts (and more slowly quarrys) without the use of other skills, and also, obviously kill other players.
Why would you buff mesmers (in PvP)? They were already adequate to the task, and now they're just another OP class...Can we not have common sense with the buffs/nerfs?
My suggestion would just be to revert or make less spammable. Make it cost 10 energy or make it recharge in 10 secs. That would make it less viable for easy hex covering and cheap damage.
Anyhoo...that's that, I'd be glad to know what everyone thinks in regard to mesmers in PvP at the present, and whether you think they are OP since the buff.
Cheers.

Madly op is such an exgaration its not funny .
Firstly, having WD or WW stacked together is just Gimping the elite in the bar as it means your only getting half the damage from vor which isn't exactly punishing people for using skills , anyone with half brain will use a skill to remove WD before it hurts them, and only take half the damage from VoR .
As for a cover hex , it isn't that great as it ends upon using a skill. So if the person who is stacked cast a single hex removal they will remove both hexs .
Anyhow I can't see it getting changed anytime soon as the derv update has been put on hold , so in short get used to it .

Wastrel's Demise is actually worse as a cover hex now than before.

Ehh... Mesmer is about the only profession I play anymore (in pve and pvp) and I would agree that the profession as a whole is a little OP. They were very well balanced in PvP pre may-buff, and I would be all for reverting all or most of the may-buffed skills in PvP. There was simply no reason for the change in PvP. In the past, I have called out anet for nerfing skills in pve because of pvp issues (like soldier's fury in the february update), and it would be hypocritical for me not to get onto anet for changing skills in pvp that didnt need changing in pvp b/c of pve issues.

I agree that mesmers are OP in pvp right now, however I can promise you that Wastrels Worry/Demise are not the issue!

Well with Wastrel's + VoR you take ~47 dmg when you use a skill. In JQ I would be glad they're focusing on you rather than the NPCs.

well, im just picking wastrel's spells cos they were recently buffed, and i see them on nearly every Mesmer i play against.
The new signets are also quite strong, but I haven't seen as many people using a bar completely geared towards them.

I would say that Mind Wrack and ESurge are more OP and brainless than the changes to signets.

According to some other thread , wotas + esurgers are a joke to beat anyway ....
Nah , but the common esurger build is too OP especially when you get skills on 40/40( you can just click skills randomly on target and that's it ) . Aswell , PD skill is too OP on some maps ( shrines , because you can just make a kill in a split team and win .. , and koth ..)

pd is not overpowered at all, if anything its a terrible skill and very easy to counter on koth. Just put a diversion on the mesmer spamming pd or have your hammer sit on him while the ghostly is capping. For esurge, most are terrible and don't watch when you switch weapon sets so as soon as you see mind wrack on you just switch to your low energy set (-5 energy spear) and let him dump his edenial skills

LOL I got a chuckle outta that one! People assume the best strategies based on bad players' output, until they hit a brick-wall called "THE GOOD PLAYERS".

Mesmer skills are actually laughably underpowered compared to what they used to be (especially relative to everything else). They're just much more damage-oriented now. This gives them a bunch of added utility when they're pushing in a situation where they don't need to shut anything down.
But I really don't see anything wrong with any of them on either an individual or synergistic level. Visions of Regret is arguably a little bit too good, but I think that's more an issue with the nature of hexes than anything else. There are plenty of skills that are just off the charts in terms of power level, but I can't think of any on Mesmers. The Enraging Charge/Flail combination has warped the entire game around it. Mesmers aren't even in 50% of the builds you see (disclaimer: I have not played in weeks). Compare to late 2005, when it was not uncommon to see a build with two or three mesmers.

Healer's boon needs the hit not heal party. Healer's boon is a terrible skill from a design standpoint.
