It got too boring for me, any pug I join is obliterated by a few CA guild groups. A lot of times the skills offered make the proffesions I like to play useless, and I don't feel like waiting specific days.

i find the problem is that many PUGs have no idea of how to build a team. they all want Sin / Warrior, Necro / Mesmer, Monk, Rit.
It seems that all the best builds and professions directly after a skill change are run by organised guilds, any PUGs are just useless when it comes to builds. I guess this is where you take about half an hour out and build your own team and make people run the builds you give them.
it certainly needs some form of reward such as mAT or the like to get the whole "status" thing happening. The appeal to HB was that individuals were able to become famous within the GW's community from playing the ladder and winning mAT's.

Tried it when it was still fresh or when a few changes had been made but have not been back since then. Unless you have some dedicatd players from your guild it's a complete waste of time and trying to PUG anything there is a wasted effort as players req RANK ( BLAH BLAH ) or BUILD ( X ) in-order to even jump into a PUG. It's different then Team Arenas how ??
For your Hard Core P vs P players it may still be a nice place go trash talk and feel good about themselves but any new players are simply meat for most of those parties or teams. You would have to have to randomize the party selection as well if you wanted to actualy fix the area for your average player, otherwise all that's been done is make a new TA area that limited what teams could bring and nothing more.
Same ppl, same attitudes, different name !

Tried it once with a guild team, played 2 matches and figured the builds were just too random.
One week later I was looking on PvX to see the 'codex of the day'. As I've been making builds since one year after I started, I thought it was pretty funny to theorycraft about it.
So I went to the CA, just to notice PvX wasn't updated. The build I made was with the 'Codex' of the previous day. Checked to see if the actual skillset was any good that day, and figured it was just too random to even have some fun theorycrafting.
Never looked back since.

Overall everything popular in guild wars has some awesome reward (these FOW and UW speedclears are popular b/c ecto and cool weps are exciting and such; GvG rank trim with ladder and tournaments gives you status points cuz idk thats how it works, HA chest/bambi or is incredibly simple/fun... RA
Codex is kinda complex and most likely your build may not be the most optimal build right off the bat unless u rly understand like every skill in the game, so you will have to rebuild your teambuild... So just throw simplicity out the window.
Moral of post: Give Codex a reward... if anything a unique reward that actually has some merit or value in it; its what the majority want so do it.
edit: i now play CA once in a blue moon

I love codex, but I don't have the time to make a decent team through pugging often since there's so few people. I'm just waiting till friends IRL or in game can show up and play then. If codex just had a freakin' reward people would come to play it, and I might be able to pug. For now it's just TA all over again.

Finally got around to play some Codex. I like the concept a lot. I even go there occasionnally now to check the available skill set and start theorycrafting. It's very fun, like in the first days of GW.
The absence of players is terribly disappointing though. Playing every round (after an estimated 25 "no opposing party joined") versus the same team is strikingly frustrating.
If higher rewards is all that it takes to make the arena successfull, then please just do it. Although I never understood why people need big "ingame" rewards like cash or weapon skins or whatever. The thing I always enjoyed most in this game was teaming up.

Sure teaming up is enjoyable but since when did people play something just because they enjoy it? Really now... Codex Arena doesn't fly because it's TA (sorry but TA was always shit), the rewards are bad, you are forced to play with a gimped skill list (no, it's actually not fun) and there is no real balance. GW isn't built to be abused like this.
What they should have done is to make a costume battle style thing with one fixed build per profession (changing every 6 hours) and RA-style teaming. It would still be crap but at least it would be accessible crap.

That's actually what I like about codex is that you can have talent with very little experience. I still use gladiator 1 as a filter since it's pretty easy to get in RA these days and I don't want to have to deal with dervishes havng 9 scythe mastery (grr), but otherwise the standard experience doesn't work well in codex. It's rather dissapointing that people try to shunt out everyone except the best, who probably aren't since they probably farmed said title with a set build, something you can't do in codex.

I just started doing CA 2 weeks ago. I think it's excellent. Making builds is fun.
Weapon of Remedy and Xinrae's Weapon should probably be banned from the skillset, though. They are automatic must-takes like 90% of the time that they show up and result in matches lasting too long, unless the Monk bar for the day is total poop.
