I still don't understand this guy, saying monks are useless 90% of the time is just BS. The things you can do WITH a monk far outweigh the bonuses of 1 bonus offense.
For example if you have a team of 4 offense you are going to struggle against any team with 3 offense and a monk (and no you wont drop the monk in seconds if he is even half decent) cus their monk only has to last like 10 seconds before you start dying. Also if your team is so well co-ordinated they should be able to lineback for the monk.
Also if you find yourself in a situation where there are no monks, you would steamroll a 4 man team with no monks if you had one, but since you don't you just evened the playing field for them.
Lastly if you are facing a greater number of players you dont stand a chance there no way you will beat 6 opposing players with half a brain if you have no monk.
Another thing to consider, with a monk you can take the survival skills off your bars for more offense, 1-2 skills per offense and you've got an extra 3-6 skills just for taking a monk, skill wise this is about the same as taking another offensive character which would bring 4-6 more offensive skills, BUT you have a monk as well.
Sure you will kill stuff that little bit faster, but you will not last even close to as long as you would with a monk, thus it makes not taking one not rly worth it.

Agreed, been FAing recently when I have a spare five minutes since it usually involves a ragequit, healing wammo's makes me feel utterly useless and unless I play healer there isn't anyone keeping the turtles up.

I don't know about everybody else here, but personally, I almost never pug in AB anymore. Usually, I have a team of guildies on teamspeak as the following:
-Monk
-Water Ele (me, with the brain of a mesmer)
-frontline (nubcake)
-frontline (nubcake)
Everybody but the monk is a nubcake, and yet for some reason, we end up getting about a 70-80% win rate...
Even if your whole guild is full of nubcakes, get a few of them on voice chat and get a group together. It works wonders from what I've experienced.

It's not so much that the Kurzicks are completely terrible, there are a lot of Luxon teams that are syncing. So what little life there was left in AB has been drained by lamers.

No I mean teams syncing in together so they auto win. I understand that it's not fun to get a group with 2 wammos, a minion master and escape ranger as allies but that's part of the format. AB used to be a lot of fun when it was back and forth, now it's just as dumb as RA when that was filled with sync groups too.

That works both ways. Kurzicks have the same tools to their disposal to sync if they wanted to. The fact that they don't, isn't the fault of the Luxons. And it's not because the Kurzicks have better play ethics either. It's because Kurzick AB isn't as organised as Luxon AB.
How to solve this? Lower the reward in FA and JQ, to the point that AB is the most profitable (as it always should have been). Don't increase the reward for AB, there's already serious faction inflation, rewards for winning have only increased, never decreased.
That should get the result-oriented Kurzicks to play AB again, and even out the balance somewhat.

Except that in AB you can form a good team unlike in RA.
I fail to see how getting 2 wammos etc is "part of the format" too

Yes, you can form your own good team and still get two allied teams that are total fail and lose. Who you get for allies is supposed to be random, it's part of the format. I disagree with Lexar in that it's not necessarily the Kurzick's fault for failing to exploit the format like Luxon guilds are.
At any rate it's not a huge concern of mine. As I said before it used to be fun to go in to AB, make a decent pug team and have a reasonable chance of winning even if you had to compensate a little for the failing of your allies. That's not possible at all anymore playing from the Kurzick side. So like a lot people who used to casually play AB for fun when there was nothing else to do, I rarely play it anymore.
